Tumble dryer Help

Sorry this is in AIBU but took me forever to figure out how to start a new thread and when I did it was already in this category.
So my question is, our tumble dryer just broke so looking for a new one. At the minute because of the layout of our kitchen wen have to open the door and put the hose out the back door when the dryer is on ( there is nowhere to put it with a vent in the wall) so the house gets cold. Been looking at condenser dryers but been told on the past that these are rubbish and take so long to dry clothes, is this true?
Does anybody have one and would recommend one? It's so cold when we put the dryer on and would love to just have it on and keep the back door shut!
Also I've tried the condenser boxes you can buy for normal dryers but they didn't work.
Thankyou

@celebelly that’s the model we’ve got - it’s brilliant. We have a 10kg beko washing machine as well that does a full load in 28 mins - it goes straight into the dryer and is dry within an hour. I am constantly amazed at how quick it is!

We moved house last year, first time buyers, and we bought a condenser dryer, a Candy. Takes about 1.5 hours to dry a full load ( some smaller stuff takes less). But honestly i am so sad that it is my favourite purchase ever Xmas Grin

I had a separate Hotpoint washer and condenser dryer. Used to take 3 hours to dry a big load of towels in the dryer

Swapped them both for Bosch and now can dry same load of towels in an hour. Think it helps the spin on the Bosch washing machine is a lot better as well

We have a Bosch condenser drier and it’s great. Dries quickly and it’s about 13 years old now so I’m sure the new ones are quicker/more energy efficient. I save the water and water the plants with it. Can thoroughly recommend one.

I have two tumble dryers:

  1. A very expensive Bosch heat pump condensor and it is absolutely shit. Takes 3.5 hours to dry a load; and
  1. A beko condensor which is fast and amazing. My mum prefers it to her miele

Just avoid hotpoint, lots of recalls with issues which the manufacturer have been poor to respond to!

Ours is a Candy condenser. It sometimes takes less time that I think it will. Emptying the water is a pain as it is right at the bottom but as I only use it for towels it takes a little while to fill up.

I wouldn't have thought of buying a Candy but it was passed on to us, and I am happy with it. Had been looking to buy one and got confused so it was ideal.

Another vote here for beko condenser dryer! AND it has a light INSIDE the drum! Amazing!

I think you've got to be vigilant with the filters. I empty the lint filter (nearly) every time I use it and you are supposed to clean out the condenser part every month. It makes a big difference to the drying time I find. Mines is a Hotpoint sensor drier and I find that it stops before the clothes are really dry so I need to put it on again. I wouldn't live without it mind.

BrightonBB · 02/01/2019 12:58

@Ulysses - thank you for cleaning tip reminder. I empty the lint filter every time but forget about the condenser part. Any suggestions of best way to clean that? I thought I’d try cleaning that first to see if it improves the drying time before buying a new machine.

It should tell you in the manual – we literally just did ours for first time this weekend (ahem, after a year) and manual said best way was in shower with showerhead, so DP did it in there and it came out great.

Sorry to piggy back on this thread, but since I cleaned out the condenser part the dryer causes terrible condensation in the utility room when it's running. Have to leave the back door open. Is this normal? Confused Prior to cleaning it, when I used the tumbler the utility would be nice and warm with not a drop of condensation. (I clean the lint filters after every use and always have done).
