It's slim pickings in the Nordic fridge.

Looks fine but don't want to kill anyone.

I’ve had food poisoning too but never from my xmas ham.

DinosApple · 01/01/2019 20:19

We had the last of ours today. Usually if there's loads I'll freeze some boxing day. It's been covered and refridgerated since the 24th.

We had the last of the turkey yesterday with ham and leeks in a pie. We've survived!

MrsJonSno · 01/01/2019 21:56

Ham you cooked 8 days ago?!? No way! 2 days for most cooked meat perhaps 3-4 at a push given its salted and if stored correctly. 8 is grim.

Fifthtimelucky · 01/01/2019 23:08

I cooked my ham on the 22nd and it is still absolutely fine. Had some today in a pie and will eat more cold tomorrow.

ConcreteUnderpants · 02/01/2019 19:41

Fifthtimelucky is your username something to do with the ratio of food poisoning vs eating 10 day old cooked meat?

Hulloa · 02/01/2019 19:49

Of course it's not ok. Four to five days absolute maximum.

To the pp who said that American food is different how exactly is ham, cooked at home, different in America??!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/01/2019 20:03

Finished the Christmas Turkey this morning. I'm not dead yet Grin.

LakieLady · 02/01/2019 20:07

The last of our Xmas Eve gammon was cooked in a quiche this morning and we ate it at lunchtime.

So far, no ill effects, for either of us.

Fifthtimelucky · 02/01/2019 20:09

@ConcreteUnderpants ha! 😂. No. I've never had food poisoning.

Pie was delicious again this evening!

ConcreteUnderpants · 02/01/2019 23:00

Glad you enjoyed the pie! (Even if the thought of it gives me shivers!)
Fingers crossed for your lunch tomorrow! Grin

nimski · 02/01/2019 23:01

My husband had the last of ours for lunch yesterday Smile

popcornwizard · 03/01/2019 09:16

Really? They have different pig breeds, different growing conditions, very different ideas on nutrition and dietry drugs. Different slaughter processes, preservatives, curing, packaging, transport. Just because the American language sounds a bit like ours, doesn't make everything the same as ours, especially when it comes to food.

Fifthtimelucky · 10/01/2019 23:13

I finished my Christmas ham yesterday. It looked, smelled and tasted fine.

Do I win?!

popcornwizard · 11/01/2019 10:37

lol, yes - how big was your ham!!!!

Hillarious · 11/01/2019 10:48

So, OP. Did you and were you?

greenllightredlight · 11/01/2019 10:54

It used to be common practise when I was a child to spend the week after Christmas eating up the leftover turkey and ham. When did we all get so delicate?

Fifthtimelucky · 11/01/2019 20:14

@popcornwizard: it was pretty big! We (6 of us) had it roast on the 22nd, had some cold on Christmas Eve, and in sandwiches on various other days, turkey and ham pie for 3 (twice), more cold, and then two ham omelettes this week.

One of my children is now a vegetarian, which is why it lasted longer than usual.

CrazyKitkatLady · 11/01/2019 20:45

We had the last of our boxing Day ham for lunch today, if it's been stored in the fridge and looks/tastes ok it should be fine!
