I can fit into a pair of size 16 skinny jeans with a BMI of 34. Well actually the waist is loose. I have an hourglass basic shape and am quite short.
My weight has fluctuated quite alot over the years and I am thankfully on a downward trend again. Although will have a blip Christmas.
I always thought that a size 16 was kind of an overweight size rather than obese.
Or is it just vanity sizing.

It’s vanity sizing. Really irritating for those of us who need smaller sizes.

Asda in particular is huge. There is no standard sizing in clothes across stores and it is ridiculous.

This is also my gripe, children's clothes fit better than adults but that's not really a workable solution. Sad

Have H&M changed their sizing recently because I now fit comfortably into a size 8 in there sometimes even a 6 but their sizes used to feel tiny Confused I go by superdry clothing tbh because I feel like they have changed the least in terms of vanity sizing compared to some other high street clothing stores. I’m generally a 10 in there so I feel that’s probably my true size. Topshop is another that seems to have “real” sizing although can be a hit or miss. I’m generally an 8-10 in there. Primark clothes are whack, as are the supermarkets. It makes it really hard to go grab something or shop online as it’s hard to tell if something is going to be massive or teeny when there’s no standard sizing.

Topshop are still true to size I think but the brand is too young for me.

H&M were criticised heavily for their sizes being too small Hmm so appear to have changed them yes. All this criticism seemed to miss the point that all the other shops had got bigger, H&M hadn’t gone out of their way to get smaller. Who can blame them though as to be called out for ‘body shaming’ can’t really help sales. Shop sizes are just huge now but if you point that out, even citing actual measurements, you tend to get flamed.

Obese is a lot thinner than most people think.

Or people claim as a smaller person it must be easy to find clothes so why moan, when nowadays it actually seems like shops cater much more for larger sizes.

I have clothes from size 8 to 16! It's driving me mad, it's such a bloody waste of time to buy clothes because you have to try on 25 pieces to buy one. Shops have started to do the same with children clothes which makes me even more angry, buying trousers for my kids is becoming a mission Angry

Your weight and own measurements are the only indicators of your actual size.
