My house is going to explode with STUFF. Its my fault. I bought heaps. All second hand. But no way am i doing this again. They have bikes, all cost less than a fiver, scooters £2 each. One was new. The house is about to pop. I cant do technology. They get way too much of that from stbxh, what else is there?

Depends what they are into as well. My son got a tour of a sports stadium as one of his presents. He is really looking forward to it. He doesn't like arts and crafts and thinks writing was created as a form of torture which cuts down the options.

Joinourclub · 28/12/2018 22:31

Football
Microscope
Bow and arrow
Build your own skeleton
Globe
Star wars posters
Magnets
Board games

Soconfusedbylife · 28/12/2018 22:33

No imaginext in our house. We have Lego, air hog supernova, drone, flying helicopter and lots of science books. I cut back this year from stuff!

Flobalob · 28/12/2018 22:34

My 8 yo boy got
Wimpy Kid book set
Playmobil
Lego
Snap together circuit set
Stationery
Junior Cluedo

He has tonnes of large Imaginext, Playmobil and Lego. He plays with it every day and so we try to encourage him to play with it under his mid sleeper bed

xyzandabc · 28/12/2018 22:34

I don't know what imaginext is. Mine is nearly 7.

Books - dogman, Captain underpants, flying Fergus, anything involving poo, wee or burps in the title! Usbourn lift the flap fact book, space, trains, big vehicles etc
Lego, tonnes of the stuff
Hexbugs
Dig out your own dinosaur type kit
Football
Boot buddy (football boot cleaner)
Junior catan
socks
Dressing gown
Electric drum kit

Not all for Christmas but stuff he's had in the past year or likely to get next year

Flobalob · 28/12/2018 22:36

He also got lots of clothes and a "play schools" pack

Kaykay06 · 28/12/2018 22:39

He’s more into tech but I have 2 older sons so have all their cars, Lego etc still so no need for too much plastic crap. Feels like too much stuff still, going to have a big clear out then sort what they do have after new year

Tigresswoods · 28/12/2018 22:40

A surprising amount of books. And a drum kit. With headphones.

Hastalapasta · 28/12/2018 22:40

No idea what imaginex is, my 7 yr old got a shared gift of walkie talkies, several books and a wooden snakes and ladders game that he loves. Not a fan of ‘stuff’ and I am itching to do a sort out and de clutter!
Good luck for next Christmas....l

FixItUpChappie · 28/12/2018 22:42

My Iyar old got a Kinex set, a Lego Ninjago set, Harry Potter Wizards Chess set, a bin of little green army men (huge hit), a Spirograph set and I added to pre-existing Playmobil sets. It's lots of stuff but I try to be ruthless passing along with unused bits and bobs to charity.

FixItUpChappie · 28/12/2018 22:44

That should say 8yr old...

KoshaMangsho · 28/12/2018 22:45

Mine isn’t very ‘boyish’ and I don’t recognise 90% of the stuff people have mentioned. He got books, some stuff for his music (he plays two instruments at a decent level), and board games- he got Labyrinth, Engineering Ants and Outfoxed.

UserName31456789 · 28/12/2018 22:49

Lego, books, kids bath stuff from lush, stationary (smiggle mainly)., clothes with favorite characters, puzzle, magnetic dart board,

My 6 year old got:
Football boots with his name stitched on
A football comic book with him as the star player
A hover board and hover kart
Fifa 19 for switch
Books
His teams football kit
My son is football mad...

MrsBungle · 28/12/2018 22:54

Oh also a smiggle bag and Lego

LotsToThinkOf · 28/12/2018 22:55

6yo: playmobile, Cosmo robot, Harry Potter wand, sea monkeys, Xbox game, board games (soggy doggy, junior monopoly, Jurassic Park Lego.

I refuse to buy any more oversized imaginex play sets after the BatBot, it's huge and does nothing. Well, it fires plastic arrows out of it's shoulders and a motorbike out of its foot, it also punches things. So I should say it does nothing interesting or useful, it just takes up loads of room and falls over on the dog all the time.

FourFuxxakes · 28/12/2018 22:56

7 y old got:
-A science kit where you can do experiments such as pH testing with red cabbage, dissolving an egg shell with vinegar, seeing how salt affects the freezing point of water etc.
-Several books by David Walliams
-A boat racing track thing that's in the figure of 8, that you fill with water and put those micro boats in. They have sensors and move away from each other and escape a shark thing
-That greedy granny game
-Wireless headphones
-Chocolate

6 y old got:
-A science kit where you experiment with water pressure and floating/sinking etc.
-Several books
-Wireless headphones
-A lockable diary
-A keyboard
-A recorder
-Chocolate

MadMum101 · 28/12/2018 23:01

DS is 8 and got a lot of Harry Potter themed stuff: clothes, wellies, trivial pursuit, 1000 piece jigsaw, ruck sack too many other bits to remember. He adores HP.

I got him brain flakes because he's totally not interested in Lego and has had loads of it, thought it was something different that might open up his creativity, he looked at me like this Hmm.

He also got Jenga, Minecraft books, science kits and a 2nd hand Wii U with a game he wanted which you can only play on that console. 16 year old DS's have spent more time on it as they found all their old games in the garage from when they had their first ever console at his age, which was a Wii. Reliving their childhood they saidGrin.

DS is now back to having to be forcefully removed from the PC and Roblox WineAngry.

garethsouthgatesmrs · 28/12/2018 23:02

Imaystillbedrunk · 28/12/2018 23:07

Mine doesn't like Lego but adores football.

He got two football kits, from eBay go £12 each, a football, personalised goalie gloves, a set of headphones for my old iPod shuffle, a couple of games for his Nintendo switch. He had mostly been playing football in the hall way since Christmas Day.

PippilottaLongstocking · 28/12/2018 23:15
