My house is going to explode with STUFF. Its my fault. I bought heaps. All second hand. But no way am i doing this again. They have bikes, all cost less than a fiver, scooters £2 each. One was new. The house is about to pop. I cant do technology. They get way too much of that from stbxh, what else is there?

Lego? Pokemon / football / other trading cards ? Neither take up much room!

littlecabbage · 28/12/2018 22:18

Namedrama · 28/12/2018 22:19

Lego
Play mobile
Drawing and art stuff
A football/rugby ball

Merryoldgoat · 28/12/2018 22:20

RedOrange21 · 28/12/2018 22:20

Mine got Lego, Book sets, Telescope, Smart Sketcher and programmable robot. Some of it is technology but not the passive screen type. Also a couple of board games.

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 28/12/2018 22:22

Books, books, books.
And a Lego Ideas book!

Smeeeeeee · 28/12/2018 22:22

Gymnastic rings to hang from pull up bar, and a slackline.

NeverTwerkNaked · 28/12/2018 22:22

We have 2x 8 year old boys and no imaginext stuff!
Lots of Lego, knex, Meccano

My son got a v- tech watch which he absolutely loves (Star Wars one) and bonus is it doesn’t take up space!

Footballs, goals for garden?

They have also been v pleased with model building kits, books, journals, art supplies, dvds.

MsJaneAusten · 28/12/2018 22:23

Lego, books, board games, laser x guns.

If the house is bursting, can you get them to help you sort out the stuff they don’t use and either take it to charity shops or bag it up ready to car boot when it gets warmer?

NeverTwerkNaked · 28/12/2018 22:23

Oh yes and snap circuits / coding stuff is popular too. And they got a robot to build for their birthday.

And Board games.

And my son was thrilled with a light up picture for his room.

Smeeeeeee · 28/12/2018 22:23

Ps I don't know what imaginext is

RussellSprout · 28/12/2018 22:24

Lego, games, a build your own robot and a good old fashioned jigsaw!

MimsyBorogroves · 28/12/2018 22:24

Lego and graphic novels for my just turned 7 year old.

elQuintoConyo · 28/12/2018 22:24

Boardgames.

Craft stuff.

A Lego book showing you how you can make different things (dinosaurs, star wars etc).

A book full of labrynths.

A cardboard garage you colour in and make into 3D (Lidl).

Highlighter pens/tipped mouse/fancy rubbers/mini post-its.

Hologram dinosaur jumper from H+M.

Lego Technic (difficult enough to take 4x as long as other Lego).

Remote control car that goes up the wall and spins.

Light saber.

Nerf gun.

Beach rugby ball.

Blue toothpaste.

Crystal growing kit.

Microscope.

Bruder rubbish lorry.

Character pyjamas/slippers/dressing gown.

MimsyBorogroves · 28/12/2018 22:24

And chemistry sets.

NeverTwerkNaked · 28/12/2018 22:25

The problem with imaginext stuff is it takes up a lot of space but isn’t very versatile so doesn’t have as much play value as a similar size box of (for eg) lego.

Milkmachine15 · 28/12/2018 22:26

Dinosaurs, my house looks like Jurassic fing park

elQuintoConyo · 28/12/2018 22:26

tipped mouse, not tipped.

dirtystinkyrats · 28/12/2018 22:26

Lego
Books
Clothes
Dinosaur egg thing made of chalky stuff you pick at to get dino bones pretending to be an archaeologist
Scalextric plus extra cars

When other people ask for present ideas I ask for small things, or we have got an annual membership to a science centre from one set of grandparents.

When DS got loads of little lego sets for his birthday I took some away and then gave them back to him over the next 6 months or so. I also have some of his Lego stored longer term in the loft as he is more interested in things when they are new so toy rotation seems to work well.

PumpkinPie2016 · 28/12/2018 22:26

My boy got Lego, books, board games, paint your own money box and some drawing stuff.

He did get the hot wheels ultimate garage too but that is quite big so probably not something you want if the house is already full Xmas Grin

He is absolutely loving the Lego - he is being so imaginative with it so that was definitely a good buy and it can be added to.

BikeRunSki · 28/12/2018 22:27

Lego, books, Star Wars stuff, Lego Star Wars stuff, ukulele and lessons, David Attenborough DVDs, tablet

NeverTwerkNaked · 28/12/2018 22:27

Sorry, didn’t mean to sound preachy. But we had 4 children crammed into a 3 bed semi so had to be pretty careful what we bought!! We have a 5 bed now but I am still reluctant to drown in plastic!

Oh for a big “wow“ gift a trampoline is a good choice - ours gets used nearly every day by all 4

OhioOhioOhio · 28/12/2018 22:28

Fantastic ideas. Thank you.
