This morning half asleep I put £5 worth of petrol in my diesel car..realised and started to put diesel in.
I've drove it since on motorway and it's fine.
Because it was a small amount will it be ok?

I put in a few £s of petrol into my diesel car once, realised what I was doing, panicked and added another £50ish of diesel. It was totally fine. Yours isn’t so diluted as mine was though, so there might be problems, I would contact a mechanic. I phoned my dad in a panic after I had done it, and he phoned his mechanic friend who said it would be fine.

I’d put loads of diesel in it. I’ve done the same and as dh was at work up the road he came and rescued me & swapped cars.

Unfortunately I put loads in from empty and it needed a new filter.

Dh was furious with me 🤷🏻‍♀️. About a year later his dad did the same to dhs car and he never said a thing to him. It had to be recovered in.

Years ago I had a shogun 4 x4. I was away from home and rather agitated. I put £5 of petrol into the tank and realised. I then filled the car to the brim with diesel. After a few miles it backfired a couple of times then just ran as normal. I never did tell anyone certainly was not going to tell husband and we kept the car for another two years. Think diluting the fuel down definitely helped.

Honest John has some sensible advice on the topic (as usual):

It should be ok. I did it once but with just a gallon in a big old merc. I was advised that a small amount of petrol in a diesel car could be beneficial.
