Alongside a diet of course!

Seems like the only manageable way I am gonna have a crack at it after I finished eating all my christmas crap when DS is napping...

Absolutely and I found them way more effective than the gym. A few years ago I did all the Jillian Michaels DVD's (Body Revolution, Bodyshred, Ripped in 30 etc) and got down to just under 9 stone (I'm 5'4). And I was really rippling with muscles I didn't know I even had. Unfortunately fell off the bandwagon quite a bit with severe depression and medication in last year or so but am going back to them.

Marking my spot

Confusedbeetle · 27/12/2018 22:06

Nope tried many, sadly the only thing that worked was a serious reduction in eating and drinking, amazing eh?

Whataboutbobbo · 27/12/2018 22:32

Was told to get slim in six. Can't be bothered to put in on....

Gigglebrain · 27/12/2018 22:35

30 day shred and 5:2 vote from me too.

Athena51 · 27/12/2018 22:53

Jessica Smith has a whole load of free workouts just Google Jessica Smith tv. Beginner friendly and not all high impact as jumping around doing burpees isn't right for everyone especially if you're unfit.

I use kettlebells at home. Intense but very good and brilliant for burning fat and building muscle. You can start with one bell and add more as you go.

Jellybabie3 · 27/12/2018 23:06

Ooo yes I have a kettle bell. I also have a resistance band bar that I could dig back out. Funny how I used to look after myself waaaay more than I do now......

@Confusedbeetle sadly I will be doing this also....at the moment I am ignorant and am enjoying my last few days binging on christmas junk. Then I will be on the sterotypical salad lunchboxes when i return to work....

I do POPSUGAR boxing workouts from YouTube. I've lost a little weight but the main difference has been toning

Andro · 27/12/2018 23:46

I like tae bo...your muscles will hate you at first, but it's a really good workout. You can even get a couple of the beginner workouts on youtube (and some the advanced - don't go there until you've built some fitness!).

BeekyChitch · 28/12/2018 00:00

I started with the Jillian Michaels DVD a few years back - dropped a stone then another stone after joining a gym!

ThankYouDebbie · 28/12/2018 14:00

I've lost 1.5 stone doing 5:2 (and keeping on doing it to maintain but I'm not so strict now) over a year with bursts of Jillian Michaels to 'pull' me in. I try and do it once or twice a week. I still look kinda crap with no clothes on....let myself go to pot in my 20s and put on 4 stone when pregnant at 30, eurgh... but I'm as slim now as I was in my teens and I still go off the rails (booze, cheese) at the weekend and get away with it smug

I totally recommend starting with 30 day shred because you can feel changes in your muscles really quickly, which is motivating.

Whocansay · 28/12/2018 14:06

Another vote for 30 Day Shred. It actually gave me a proper waist!

I have her App now, which also gives meal plans and advice. I will be using this heavily from next week.

But not today. Today I shall be eating cheese and chocolate.

CycleWoman · 28/12/2018 14:11

Yes! About 15 years ago this is how I started to get fit and loose weight. I do all sorts of other stuff now but just using a video at home when it was convenient really helped me as I realised I actually enjoyed it and wanted to do more.

I don’t get much time to exercise at the moment either but now I use Kayla Itsenes Bikini Body Guide. I’ll be honest, I loath the concept of a ‘bikini body’. But this exercise guide is fantastic as it focuses on strength rather than getting thin. It’s all body weight excercises which progress to weights and other props. All 30 minute work outs you can do at home. I think to buy it can be expensive but there are pdfs floating around online....

pissedonatrain · 28/12/2018 14:19

I like HasFit on youtube. Lots on youtube for variety.

calamitycake · 28/12/2018 14:21

30 day shred was amazing for me.

formerbabe · 28/12/2018 14:23

I swear by Rosemary Conley!

SeventyNineBottlesOfWine · 28/12/2018 14:26

Insanity. Incredibly hard, but the change to my body was amazing.
After just three weeks people were commenting on how great I looked and how much weight I'd lost.

Jellybabie3 · 28/12/2018 14:27

This is brilliant thanks. I admit I have just eaten another mince pie but I am definately going to go for it next week. The DVD is in the post...

Are there support threads on here? I could do with a push every so often I think

Pump It Up ministry of sound dance workout dvd did it for me, with Deanne Berry. Loved it! Good tunes to keep you interested (although they're not current anymore!)

Thewifipasswordis · 28/12/2018 14:46

30 day shred but if youre a beginner it's more like 90 day shred :)

I was 17st when I first did it and got down to 14st 11 in 9 weeks. I also went from being able to do zero proper push ups to 10 in a week 😮

Thewifipasswordis · 28/12/2018 14:46

I'm back to 17st something now though so I'm starting again next week 😂

Lovestonap · 28/12/2018 15:01

Les mills on demand. Its 11 pounds a month but its amazing! I have it on my telly (like Netflix etc) and there's over 500 different workouts to choose from. A friend recommended it and I haven't looked back.

FuckBrussel · 28/12/2018 15:21

It was a long time ago, but I used the Denise Welch "You Can Do It" video (released in 2000 - I don't know if you can still get it?) to very good effect. Having said that, the exercises are great, but her talking over thre instructor isn't so much...
