Can anyone who knows LOL dolls help me

My 6 year old is obsessed with LOL dolls and got lots for Christmas. She’s had great fun opening them today but is confused as these two (ones a normal doll and one is a little sister) don’t appear on the enclosed booklet where she ticks off the ones that she’s got. Does anyone recognise them or know why? I’m thinking they are counterfeit ones.

Thanks

You'll be hard pressed to get a refund from a market stall. Unless you have a receipt you'll not get anything unless they are a really honest stallholder.

They are more than likely to tell you they could have been bought in any number of shops and you can't prove they were bought there.

You might have to be prepared to write off the money for them and contact Trading Standards, if they are fake they are illegal and probably dangerous.

IceRebel · 26/12/2018 13:46

Exactly what DeathyMcDeathStarFace said. I would write off the money as no market seller is going to refund you. Next time I would buy from a reputable store, or Argos on Ebay as they often have 10% - 15% off which you can use on Ebay then collect in store.

I wouldnt buy lol dolls from a market. heard the fake ones arent safe.

PoutySprout · 26/12/2018 14:05

They weren’t so cheap that it was obvious.

How much were they?

RolandDeschainsGilly · 26/12/2018 14:41

DD1 was crying yesterday on Christmas Day because she got a fake LOL Doll. Which I’d bought from ASDA Angry She was upset that I’d been conned (not because it was fake) and she felt bad I’d wasted money on fakes Sad

MrsFoxPlus4 · 26/12/2018 14:51

Fake LOL doll from Asda? Surely not?

TickTockClocks · 26/12/2018 15:07

Are you sure? I can’t imagine Asda selling fake children’s toys.

OlennasWimple · 26/12/2018 15:11

What sort of doll was it from Asda? And why do you think it was fake?

CatchingBabies · 26/12/2018 15:12

Those saying it’s bound to be fake from a market stall, I think you’re picturing a dodgy looking bloke selling things off the back of a van. This is a permanent market stall that’s part of an indoor market, in a ‘nice’ village that’s been there for as long as I have lived here (over 10 years). It’s a fixed stall not one that moves around and sells loads of toys, we’ve had many many toys from them over the years and never once had a problem before.

I also have proof of purchase as I paid on my card so they can’t argue they were purchased elsewhere, I imagine the difficulty will be proving they are fake.

@poutyspout The 6 little sister dolls were £35 and I got 2 normal ones that were £10 each. The little sister ones came boxed.

They are fake, several have said it. I can’t find the dolls on the LOL website. The real ones also don’t come with their heads separately lol

Soubriquet · 26/12/2018 15:32

Yeah they are definitely fake

They are expensive to buy

Don’t buy any that are not from a proper retail shop

The only place that does multiple packs is Argos.

Soubriquet · 26/12/2018 15:33

Oh heads up

Lol dolls NEVER come in boxes

PoutySprout · 26/12/2018 15:35

Ouch. That’s pretty much full price. The real ones are never sold in boxes like that. The argos multi-buys come in plain boxes.

I’d have spotted that they were fakes by the O in the logo. The spot next to it isn’t right, making it look more like a Q.

Poster65 · 26/12/2018 15:36

Yep - I mean look at the big sisters hair for a start, the paint/glitter is on her face!

Soubriquet · 26/12/2018 15:37

The LQL are very popular fakes

They are the most one to pick up when it comes to fake dolls

Poster65 · 26/12/2018 15:38

Also there is no “TM” mark next to the LOL logo, something the manufacturer points out as a sign of a fake

Corbynscat · 26/12/2018 15:39

They’re fakes

Check out toy egg videos or Carrie hands on YouTube they often do fakes analysis so you can identify them.

We get lols from smyths or entertainer usually

Soubriquet · 26/12/2018 15:40

Even the ones in Argos don’t come in boxes

The multipacks come in tennis ball like tubes

TartedUpYard · 26/12/2018 15:40

I bought fake ones from a seller on Amazon last year. My girls knew they were fake, something to do with the clothes. The packaging craftily had LQL instead of LOL, the line of the Q was like the dot of the O in the LOL packaging. I was refunded after I complained. Good luck OP.

MrsCar · 26/12/2018 15:42

Yes, they're clearly fakes OP

Jubba · 26/12/2018 15:44

Sorry op they are fake. My girl confirmed too. Be careful as the fakes co rain chemicals that aren’t regulated. Even when touched to the skin. So be very wary of even touching them. I’m the most laid back person and even fakes don’t bother me. But I do remember somewhere about chemicals used in China. Lols dolls don’t come in boxes.

I would only buy big brands from reputable places. Ike Argos. Etc. Never eBay etc. Or markets.

The fact they were also very expensive. I doubt the market seller knew either if I’m honest.

You’ll struggle I think to get your money back.

PoutySprout · 26/12/2018 16:05

Even the ones in Argos don’t come in boxes

The smaller ones do. I’ve bought several Lil Sister pairs in boxes, and I think pets too.

NOTthepinkranger · 26/12/2018 16:21

I think the OP knows they’re fake now...

CatchingBabies · 26/12/2018 17:33

I know they are fake, I suspected it as soon as she opened it when we couldn’t find it on the list and then when it didn’t change colour that confirmed it. I’m shocked that toys like these are faked, I would never even have contemplated that they might not be genuine and having never bought any before these didn’t know what I was looking out for. I’m always careful with clothes and make up to not buy possible counterfeit items but toys!
