AIBU to be upset that no one had rang us to say Merry christmas ? Not even my mum I text everyone first thing and every one had replied but no one has bothered to ring us.... this is the first time we have stayed home and not visited my DM & Dad... really upset over this they haven't even replied to texts of DD opening presents but read them, they will be busy as raising 3 GC, but surely 5 minutes isn't going to kill them...

OP posts:
Stardustinmyeyes · 25/12/2018 13:07

I phoned my DIL and spoke to my DS as well. I didn’t sit about waiting and complaining

ChristmasKnickers · 25/12/2018 13:09

Christ on a starship! You are hard work OP!! Get a grip and phone yourself if you're that bothered 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Or...just get on with your day, like I strongly suspect the rest of your family are doing!!

DearTeddyRobinson · 25/12/2018 13:10

No one has rung* you

ilovesooty · 25/12/2018 13:14

No one's rung or texted me. I've had quite a few messages. I'm on my own and appreciate others are busy and I'm fine with it.

I think you're making a ridiculous fuss over nothing.

Shitmewithyourrhythmstick · 25/12/2018 13:21

Give over.

blueskiesandforests · 25/12/2018 13:25

You said yourself that:

You texted and they replied by text

You are aware that they are in the middle of opening presents therefore you are not going to interrupt them.

Are you expecting them to interrupt themselves to ring you?

It sounds as if you are in constant contact by text... What is the actual purpose of you not just being with your parents, as it sounds like you usually are and are incredibly dependent on them!

Are you alone with your toddler? Or are you ignoring your partner to text stalk your parents?

Cherries101 · 25/12/2018 13:29

With 3 GC my guess is they’re doing a full on Christmas and probably don’t have time for anyone who aren’t physically in front of them. You should have facetimed them in the morning if you were so bothered.

ThanosSavedMe · 25/12/2018 13:32

Try looking at some real problems people have. I agree with pp you sound like hard work

BrokenWing · 25/12/2018 13:42

Did you ring them? If not just ring them? Seriously life is too short.

TheLittlestLightOnTheTree · 25/12/2018 13:43

But ring to say what?? They've already text and you are seeing them tomorrow

What is it you want from them?

CloserIAm2Fine · 25/12/2018 13:46

YABVU

They’ve been busy with kids and Christmas dinner all day! Give them a bloody chance

And if it bothers you that much then pick up the phone yourself and call them ffs!

Get a grip

AFistfulofDolores1 · 25/12/2018 13:58

OP, I have a feeling you can't see that you're playing the very game you're accusing your family of playing.

That's the nature of projection: it is very hard to identify it when you're the one doing the projecting. Of course, you'll probably deny this vehemently. That's the nature of projection.

Pick up the phone and call them. Stop making excuses about them being too busy and so you don't want to disturb them.

You're doing a dance around yourself.

thewinkingprawn · 25/12/2018 14:10

You must know you are being unreasonable. Are you upset that it’s your first Christmas on your own? I think that can seem a bit lonely if you are used to big christmases (I know you are not completely alone but I expect it’s quiet). Get over yourself and call them and don’t be silly. Merry Christmas!

Darkstar4855 · 25/12/2018 14:14

You are seeing them tomorrow. They have replied to your text.

You sound very needy! There are people spending Christmas alone, ill in hospital, recently bereaved etc. YABVU to make a fuss over something so trivial. If you’re that bothered just ring them!

Di11y · 25/12/2018 14:16

we don't usually call until after 3. text is fine for now.

pizzaa · 25/12/2018 14:19

You're not the centre of the world. Your family have replied to the texts you've sent them and wished you merry Christmas. You're seeing them tomorrow. As you said they're busy with three children. If you want a phone call then phone them. Phones work both ways.

Absentwomen · 25/12/2018 14:33

Blimey.

It's the one day I enjoy the peace.

For the first year it's me and DH. It's bliss. Kids are at in-laws which is four hours away. They haven't called either. Because they're having fun with family.

OP,

Pick up the phone, hm, that's how it works. Looking for issues where there aren't any is like picking up the hot poker to throw at someone. Who gets burnt first?

UserMe18 · 25/12/2018 14:35

FFS honestly, who actually rings these days anyway, if you want to speak to them pick up the bloody phone!!!!!

Janedoughnut · 25/12/2018 14:43

Bloody hell when did people start being so needy.

MissRhubarb · 25/12/2018 14:51

YABU by creating an issue in your head where there just isn't one. Your folks will just be busy with the kids. You texted, so they texted back. If you need a phonecall on top of that then call them. They'll just be bewildered if you bring this up as an issue tomorrow though.

KatKit16 · 25/12/2018 14:51

A text is perfectly fine for me. Much preferable to a phone call.

fezzesarecool · 25/12/2018 14:53

You could just ring them yourself or text them saying you’d like to FaceTime? 🤷🏾‍♀️

Redglitter · 25/12/2018 14:54

AIBU to be upset that no one had rang us to say Merry christmas

You're being VU and absolutely ridiculous
If you're that bothered phone them instead of sitting waiting for them to call you. Ffs

Whisky2014 · 25/12/2018 14:55

Jeez yes YABU! Grow up!

ChristmasFluff · 25/12/2018 16:01

It totally didn't occur to me until after lunch that none of my family, had phoned, and when it did, I phoned them, and we''ve had lovely chats (yikes, missed the Queen!).

I suppose I could have spent the time feeling hard done to (and none of us had texted eachother AT ALL!). But relationships are not some weird competition of who should contact who first - especially when it is family.

Just pick the phone up! I'm def not a person who would recommend always being the one to phone first, but that isn't the situation you are describing.
