I'm sat here on my own! WIBU to wake the kids up. Merry Christmas to you all xXmas Grin

OP posts:
DowntonCrabby · 25/12/2018 08:01

I went for a shower with the Christmas music right up, singing too and it hasn’t worken my 14 or 5 y/o
I’m about to go and jump on their beds.
It’s 8 o’clock on Christmas morning for heaven’s sake, the 5y/o especially needs to sort his shit out!!

TheDogAteMySock · 25/12/2018 08:04

Mine still asleep too. I told them no earlier than 8, but I expected them earlier. I'm drinking coffee in bed, Mumsnetting and enjoying the peace, (whilst trying not to think about everything I've got to get done). Should really get up and make the gravy, but am SO enjoying the peace and quiet!

Punto1 · 25/12/2018 08:10

Out of interest, how are you making the gravy @TheDogAtemysock ?
I'd have thought it was the last thing you do just before you serve up? Or have you everything cooked already?

Polgara2 · 25/12/2018 08:12

I’m downstairs on my own too! Have been awake since 6. Can’t stay lying down once I’m awake so have to get up, but dh was snoring incredibly loudly anyway. Dd1 is home for Christmas and announced she wasn’t getting up before 9. I know dd2 awake but she’s got to wait for her sister! Contemplating Christmas tunes but will probably get shouted at by dd1 Grin

Bouledeneige · 25/12/2018 08:12

I dont think my 16 and 18 will be up till 10am! I wanted a lie in (DD on the phone to her boyfriend till 1.30am kept me awake) but I woke at 6.30am with indigestion! I had fish and chips for supper last night and a few glasses of white which obviously did me no good at all... Who knew?

XH will come round at about 10.30 for presents. I'm going to my sisters this year so dont have much to do before we go - except whip cream and wash and cut up fruit for the pavlova. Then we set off at around 11.45. Yay.

Merry Christmas everyone!

MrsChollySawcutt · 25/12/2018 08:19

Can I join the waiting gang?

Mine are both still fast asleep. Not surprised about DS11 as his holiday bodyclock is firmly on meaning his preferred hours are midday to midnight but DD16 is always up with the larks.

Not today apparently!

Idlikeabunchofbananasplease · 25/12/2018 08:22

Merry Christmas everyone. I too am waiting

mogtheexcellent · 25/12/2018 08:23

DD is always late to fall asleep (for a 4 year old) and is possibly stirring about now. I hear movement but cant go in too soon or she'll be grumpy.

It's a bugger on a school day when we have to leave at 7.30am.

I'm eating chocolates in bed Grin

sparkles212 · 25/12/2018 08:28

My mum and dad used to bang stuff around downstairs to get us up as me and my brother were such lazy bones! Now I've been sat since 5am with my two month old fast asleep on me and I can't wait for her to wake even though she has no clue what's going on today :)

SongforSal · 25/12/2018 08:29

downtoncrabby that made me laugh!

I'm actually liking the peace. Dp is cooking today, so there isn't even dinner prep for me to do. Not sure how much longer I can hold out before waking everyone though!

Notasunnybunny · 25/12/2018 08:30

I’m still waiting for mine (2,14)

picklepost · 25/12/2018 08:30

My kids have never been up before 8 on Christmas, I can't imagine a 3am start!

SongforSal · 25/12/2018 08:34

My dm recently gave me her record player, and original collection of LPs from the 60s/70s. One of them is Christmas classics by some choir boys Grin Would it be OK to wake them all by putting that on loud outside their bedrooms? Smile

Girlicorne · 25/12/2018 08:37

My two were up at 6. I was up with hideous period pains til after 4...its going to be a long day!!!

TheDogAteMySock · 25/12/2018 08:38

@Punto1 chicken was in the slow cooker overnight, and duck giblets already boiled, so I just have to use this stock to make the gravy. Duck is going in the oven later, while we are visiting the grandparents. Kids STILL not awake. Am going with a second cup of coffee then will start the gravy.

spiderlight · 25/12/2018 08:40

I'm so jealous. Mine has been awake since 1.45am.

8DaysAWeek · 25/12/2018 08:43

Waiting for 2.5 year old DS. To him it's just another day to be fair!

DrWhy · 25/12/2018 08:43

I’m up feeding the baby but there is still no sign of DS(2) - he never sleeps through, or this late, I’m starting to genuinely worry that something has happened to him! Once I’ve got the baby back down I’m going to stick my head in and check I can hear breathing!!

123rd · 25/12/2018 08:46

I'm the only one awake. Dc15 & 12... lots of talk last night of waking up at 7.00... I love that they are still asleep. A couple of years we have had to put them back to bed for an hour before lunch because they were so grotty from getting up to early xx

DanielRicciardosSmile · 25/12/2018 08:50

Still waiting here, DH has just come downstairs, DS is still asleep, I'm watching Doctor Who on W.

HJWT · 25/12/2018 08:53

We are up all presents opened DD enjoying all of her happy land bits wondering when to put the meat in the oven 🤔

Arewenearly · 25/12/2018 08:59

My 3 and 11 year olds are still fast asleep!

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 25/12/2018 09:06

13 YO DS is fast asleep!

I want crumpets! I'm starving Xmas Grin

GirlFliesHome · 25/12/2018 09:09

This year DS1 was beside himself. He first woke at 11 ish pm. Then 1 am then at 3.45 I heard him creeping downstairs and finally just after 5 he succeeded in chivvying us out of bed.

I was thinking of taking a nap.

Whataboutbobbo · 25/12/2018 09:09

I am still waiting
