Just is it unreasonable/disrespectful feel it will be a fun way to tell a lot of the family when they are together.

@ThatWasThat - I salute you! Grin

Grinchly · 24/12/2018 20:50

When it starts learning to speak, it'll be....
Etta Garbler.
Sorry I will take my coat...

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 24/12/2018 20:53

Is “Pigzin” the new “Balonz”??

Grannyannex · 24/12/2018 20:54

Telling them before the birth means there’s a likelihood of people giving opinions.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/12/2018 20:55

My godson was born by elective section. We already knew these and the name. It made the birth announcement a bit flat.

sharke · 24/12/2018 21:02

Pigzin Panc-Etta

Grin
Grinchly · 24/12/2018 21:03

Could well be, Paul, could well be.

I can see further scope around the dinner table with ' is she pregnant or did she Etta too much, as well...

sharke · 24/12/2018 21:03

Christmas is a time for family, or is it a time for you to get annoyed with your family???

^ WTF are you on?!

Salmonpinkcords · 24/12/2018 21:04

You know if I were at your Christmas dinner I would love this announcement. I love babies and I love babies being born into my family. I think it would be a greater talking point over a family meal. My sister has just had a baby and my children and I suspected for weeks on the baby’s name. If that makes me sad or drab or whatever I don’t care.
Beautiful name - good luck!

Salmonpinkcords · 24/12/2018 21:04

*great not greater
*speculated not suspected

Colourfullanguage · 24/12/2018 21:05

Oh why not, makes Christmas dinner more fun! As long as you know that nobody else cares as much as you then it’s fine!

EncroachingLoaf · 24/12/2018 21:08

I probably wouldn't op... but I didn't share the names of my DC until they were born. Though if it feels right and you want to then crack on.

Also I've had both emergency and planned c-sections and the planned one was so calm and a really positive experience. All the best for it. Smile

starcrossedseahorse · 24/12/2018 21:11

Etta is usually short for Henrietta isn't it? Possibly a few other names too I think.

Sure about Pigzin ? It has a certain cachet I feel.

Wooooooooaaaaaaaahhhhhhh · 24/12/2018 21:14

Why the need to announce everything before the baby is born. Is nothing a surprise anymore?

Also, how many threads on there do you see with ‘my relatives hate my choice of name’? Loads. If you don’t want anyone’s opinions then don’t share.

Notso · 24/12/2018 21:15

Are you naming it Pigzin-Blanketts?

Grin best comment!

Op, you know your audience. If you think it will go down well and it's what you want to do then go for it.
It's not something that would enter my head, for me the baby needs to be safely in my arms before any announcing is done. If I could have hidden my pregnancies I would have.

Nubbin · 24/12/2018 21:15

It is nice idea to include her on her first pre Christmas - our dd was born just before christmas we had a few names being considered and told family - my brother bought a bauble in the name he liked on 25% odds he chose the one we went for! It is the first decoration on our tree now.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 24/12/2018 21:20

It's not all about you OP...

Cheerbear23 · 24/12/2018 21:20

It’s happening - you are already getting opinions on your chosen name !

Alienspaceship · 24/12/2018 21:27

If you announce the name, sex and already know the day it will be born - there’s nothing left to tell anyone when she does arrive. Apart from her weight.

Amazonian27 · 24/12/2018 21:29

I think everyone will be full aware of your babies imminent arrival just let people enjoy Christmas lunch everything isn’t all about you and just announce your babies name once they are born no big announcement needed before the actual birth.

TeddybearBaby · 24/12/2018 21:36

Making Christmas all about you / attention seeker etc. What are people on?! It’s your actual family. As if they’ll be anything but thrilled (if they’re anything like my family). I can’t imagine saying over dinner to my sisters ‘hey got a baby name want to hear it?!’ ‘Pipe down Teddy it’s not all about you’ hahahaha. Have a great day and good luck with baby Etta, great name x

Huggybear16 · 24/12/2018 21:40

Mention the name if the subject comes up. Don't turn it into some big announcement though.

BJacks86 · 24/12/2018 21:45

Unfortunately no other date is available, I've had complications late in pregnancy/at birth with my other two - this was the latest date available (and furthest away from Christmas and New Year) that was possible. The due date isn't until 1st Feb, but obviously don't want to move out of the safest window possible for a better date :)

BJacks86 · 24/12/2018 21:46

Thank you, I do think my family would be happy and my brother and SIL wouldn't see the baby till we think Easter - so thought it would be nice, make them feel more included - my kids are the only kids in my side of the family. Maybe I will tell them on boxing day or something.
