I’m too excited to sleep.
It’s only (just) the 23rd December and I’m 38 for fucks sake.
I have a dS who “gets” it for the first time this year and it’s so magical. Some of the most heart warming exciting moments of my life were Xmas mornings when I was little, my bike, and the dolls house my dad made fromnoff cuts at work.
Agh.
I just want Xmas now! I want to see his face! All I’ll do for the next 48 hours is spoil him more ! No good cam come from this!
Please tell me ianbu!

Running joke between me and dc that I'm worse on Xmas eve than they are.
I get little sleep, they are teens!
It is the same excitement I had as a kid, the anticipation has never left me.
Enjoy xx

Fruitbatdancer · 23/12/2018 07:29

Thanks guys, you’ve made me feel all warm and smushy! I’m still learning lots! But will defo do the norad thing, we’ve been doing PNP (portable North Pole) which he is Shock at! And I saw a new thing yesterday that CGI’s reindeer onto a pic of your house so we’ll be doing that too!
I haven’t done a Xmas eve box as such but have a box with Santa’s snack plate, stocking and Santa Claus the movie (which of course is an actual documentary Grin)
Anything I’m missing? He’s getting a trainset- which will be built and ready to go (hopefully doing laps
Of lounge) when he comes down Xmas morning!

What a lovely thread! My youngest are now 19 and 17 but we keep the belief going, theyre scared in case they ruin it for me! Now the joy continues as I get to see my GD's excitem, ent and enjoy watching her parents faces as they watch her. It's a wonderful time, enjoy every second!

MrsScamander · 23/12/2018 07:34

Same here, although DD is 5 so has understood for the past 2 years. I can't wait to see her fave on Christmas morning Grin

She was in bed with me the other night and we were both awake at 5am and she started whispering about Christmas and how excited she was, bloody adorable (even at 5am!!)

thesunwillout · 23/12/2018 07:38

I prob wouldn't do the Xmas eve box either had I a little one.
The whole point of Xmas is the night before being the fun before the surprises imo.
I kept doing the PNP thing till I realised I was only doing it for me.
Did one for the dog this year- sad eh lol.
Xmas plate is good, it teaches saying thankyou. X

Pinkkittens292 · 23/12/2018 07:39

No. You're not being unreasonable at all.

My eldest son's childhood passed him by without him ever understanding who Santa was or being able to feel any excitement of Christmas.
Yes, he had presents, but Santa never came down the chimney and Rudolph never got his carrot!
Now at nineteen, he still has no awareness and can't see beyond a jumble of wrapping paper.
He has no idea of the concept of presents. I have to open them for him.

This is why I cherish each precious moment with my younger three children.
This is the first year my youngest really understands about Santa, and it's ultra precious!

Galvantula · 23/12/2018 07:39

My youngest is 3.5 this year so 'gets' it a lot more and I think it might be the last year that my oldest almost just believes in Santa. (Middle guy totally believes).

I'm also super excited for them. Grin

(Also I've got myself a really cool present 😳 and a surprise for DH)

sparklefarts · 23/12/2018 07:42

I accidentally read this as to exhausted to sleep and thought 'yup'

RadioGagga · 23/12/2018 07:43

I want it to hurry up now. If it didn't start so early we wouldn't have so long to wait.

ConfusedWife1234 · 23/12/2018 07:44

That’s so cute Flowers.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 23/12/2018 07:45

Grin Yanbu! Enjoy every second.

Gudgyx · 23/12/2018 07:47

Yes!!!! 3.5 yo DD here who is just properly getting it this year and she is so excited, it’s so lovely to see. Counting down the sleeps!

needtogiveitablow · 23/12/2018 07:55

YANBU DS is 5 and with all the build up they get at school he is beyond excited. We’ve had a really shitty year and I’ve decided to finish on a high by having the most wonderful Christmas filled with family, food and lots of lovely presents. I’ve gone totally OTT but I don’t care, they never ask for anything and are so good that now we can all relax and enjoy Christmas I want to spoil them! I always though nothing would beat being a kid at Christmas but it turns out having kids at Christmas is so much better!

FruitCider · 23/12/2018 07:57

I know what you mean! My child is 6 and they are so excited it's ridiculous! Check out www.reindeerready.co.uk if you haven't already - you can make a clip of rudolf eating carrots in your house!

AnnaMariaDreams · 23/12/2018 08:01

Enjoy. My DS is 6 and is beside himself with excitement, and it’s only Christmas Eve eveGrin
This is the best bit. I can’t wait to see his face when he sees his presents.

agirlhasnonameX · 23/12/2018 08:21

Exactly the same OP it's ridiculous I feel like a child!
DD is 3 this year and understands what's happening. Feel like it should be Xmas eve today and wish it would just hurry up!!!!
Have a lovely day with your LO x

chemenger · 23/12/2018 08:22

We will all be excited when the stockings go up on Christmas Eve and my children are 21 and 17.

Jbck · 23/12/2018 08:32

My youngest found out last year just turned 10 there was no Santa, the other day she said to me she wished she still believed in Santa as it wasn’t so magical now.

I may have shed a tiny tear 😢 , enjoy every moment it is lovely.

Fireballfriends · 23/12/2018 08:34

Me too OP!

Mulberry72 · 23/12/2018 10:54

My DS is 12 and we’re now on our second year of none belief.

If I so much as mention FC I get eye rolls and muttered at.

Jimmers · 23/12/2018 11:45

Enjoy every second! I’ve got a 16 year old & he still loves doing our ‘traditions’... Xmas eve is the best. Out for breakfast, have a ride on the carousel in the city, hot chocolate while watching the last-minuters rush round then the cinema. At his age I still get excited, more about the fact he wants to spend the time with his mom instead of on his computer/phone 😁❤️

Honestlyofficer · 23/12/2018 11:54

We all suspend belief and wait for the magic, and FC never fails to arrive!

My babies are 18 and 21 and we all sit and read "the night before xmas" around the fire on xmas eve, and DH and I still get bounced on at 7am, and they still sneak into each others rooms in the middle of the night to open the santa sacks and see what each other got. Growing up at Christmas is optional.

Fruitbatdancer · 23/12/2018 14:57

So glad I’m not alone!
I’ve just been and bought a large bunch of help balloons to decorate the room / hang from the giant bear Santa is bringing! Someone rein me in!
What other OTT things can I do to fill the time between now and then (a trip for pizza, cinema, seeing the lights and walk in the woods is already on the cards!)

BottleOfJameson · 23/12/2018 15:12

YADNBU. I'm just wondering how many magical Christmases I have left with my eldest - he's almost 7. I'm hoping for at least a few more!

BottleOfJameson · 23/12/2018 15:13

Ooooo I definitely need to do a santa footprint this year too!
