Aibu to get pre-made veg this year?

I’m seriously considering getting all the vegetables for Christmas dinner from M&S this year. I usually spend bloody hours peeling, marinating, chopping etc- and (other than roasties which are sacred) am thinking of getting all the pre made stuff this year. Firstly aibu - and secondly - any good recommendations

I get everything pre made, roasties, gravy, veg. I am not spending Xmas chopping carrots.

If you are opposed on principal to ready prepped veg, you can do your own. I have Delia's parmesan parsnips and red cabbage in the freezer, and will blanch sprouts and spuds Christmas Eve. So all you need to do on the day is making things hot, which you have to do anyway, ready prepped or not.

just got honey roasted parsnips, yorkshire puds and pigs in blankets from iceland sod it that takes a bit off my prep on tuesday

I make my own pigs in blankets since I'm fussy about sausages and I always want to know that any pork products have not come from factory farmed pigs. I use top quality sausages cut into 3, and 'best' streaky. Both UK origin.

They take very little time. I already have lots in the freezer.

My Cook Christmas lunch in a box has just arrived. Lush. Used them for 3 years now.

Aldi Cauliflower Cheese Bake will be gracing our table on the 25th.

I’ve bought ready-diced carrot and swede and ready made red cabbage but that’s as far as I can go.

I love brussell sprouts and roasted parsnips and agree with you OP that Christmas Day roast potatoes are sacred. I have been known to have Aunt Bessie’s for a mid-week dinner but they’re not a patch on the real thing.

Do it. You will not look back.

Ive always done my veg from scratch. I always do it xmas eve though and just leave it in pans of cold water until o just change tge ester begore turning it on, on Xmas day.

That said this year I'm doing a mix of pre prepped and fresh as I'm feeling so drained. I will still do all my veg prep Xmas eve afternoon though.

I've bought prepared pigs in blankets, red cabbage, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings, gravy, swede and carrot mash. I will make the roast potatoes, stuffing, sprouts, carrots and turkey. I just couldn't be bothered to do it all and want to maximise the time with the kids. It's the first time one of them is old enough to get it.
