Do you care what colour hair your midwife has?

I have seen on the news that a midwife is Lincoln has been told not to go to work and may lose her job because her hair is dyed red? AIBU to think this trust is out of touch with the modern world? I really would not care if a midwife or nurse had rainbow coloured hair as long as they were kind and competent?

Wtf no....

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 20/12/2018 15:41

God I'm a judgey fucker but when the chips are down and you're about to give birth I couldn't care less...
What a strange complaint!

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 20/12/2018 15:42

Currently pregnant, couldn’t give a shit what the midwife looks like as long as she’s good at her job.

SuperstarDJ · 20/12/2018 15:43

Couldn’t care a less. As long as they help get my baby out safely, that’s all I’m bothered about.

Kknightxx · 20/12/2018 15:44

Defiently would not give a shit about any midwifes hair at all

Worriedmummybekind · 20/12/2018 15:44

I would worry they weren’t very experienced. I get that it’s actually not to do with that. But it’s not a hair style you would wear as a professional which would mean I would assume they were some sort of support staff.

knittedjest · 20/12/2018 15:44

Of course.

I would only have my children delievered by Victoria's secret models because it's a well known fact that if anybody less acted as your midwife your children would grow up to look like Dr.Spock.

RivanQueen · 20/12/2018 15:44

I couldn't care less what colour hair my midwife has or even if she has hair at all as long as she's qualified, kind and good at what she does.

xwhoiamx · 20/12/2018 15:44

Couldn't give a shit. I'd probably compliment her on it, assuming it suits her.

CantWaitToRetire · 20/12/2018 15:45

Why would you care about something so silly? As long as her hair looked clean and was tied up if it was long, then it's not a problem. I would care if she was kind, caring and competent , not what she looked like.

steff13 · 20/12/2018 15:45

I wouldn't care. Did someone actually complain, or is it because that color is against her employer's dress code? I'm imagining a Ronald McDonald red rather than a natural red.

jomaIone · 20/12/2018 15:45

I had a small area of pink in my hair when I was a student nurse. Got made to dye that in case in offended people.

It is part of the uniform policy of the NHS to be fair.

Celebelly · 20/12/2018 15:46

Nope! I wouldn't care if their hair was blue or they were covered in tattoos as long as they knew what they were doing and were kind and compassionate. And I would assume that if they were working as a midwife, they've attained a certain level of training and knowledge and should be judged just the same as anyone else in the same role.

I love seeing non-standard hair colours and am always jealous as I don't think I am cool enough to pull it off Sad Maybe once the baby is here I will treat myself!

safeea · 20/12/2018 15:46

I don't think red hair is unprofessional... Dirty hair, a mohawk held up with loads of product, but not dyed hair.

steff13 · 20/12/2018 15:46

grow up to look like Dr.Spock.

Do you mean Mr Spock?

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 20/12/2018 15:46

What are ridiculous comment @Worriedmummybekind how does her hair colour have any reflection on experience?

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/12/2018 15:47

Ha, of course not.
My Dd currently has blue hair.

WanderingTrolley1 · 20/12/2018 15:47

It’s not professional.

BigFarmer · 20/12/2018 15:49

My health visitor always had bright dyed hair.

She guided me through the after math of a traumatic birth, two pregnancy losses and serious financial problems with kindness, compassion and professionalism.

She's an absolute wonder, a champion of women and children. How does hair affect how you work?!

poppoppop100 · 20/12/2018 15:50

It makes her look unprofessional

SnowdropFox · 20/12/2018 15:50

Apparently it looks unprofessional. I think comb-overs look unprofessional, maybe I should ask if my local gp should be suspended or get his head shaved? He's only done his job well for the past 25 years or so?

knittedjest · 20/12/2018 15:50

No, Dr Spock. He looks like a potato. I would never insult Mr. Spock. He has the bone structure of a Norwegian demi god. And I would live long and prosper with those fingers...

WanderingTrolley1 · 20/12/2018 15:52

Bright coloured hair is just as unprofessional as visible tattoos.

PorpentinaScamander · 20/12/2018 15:53

I took a patient to an appointment once (mental health). She told the dr to remove his beard because she didn't like it. Grin

Personally o couldn't give a shiney shite what colour hair some one has as long as they are good at their job!

thecapitalsunited · 20/12/2018 15:53

I’m a professional advising big companies on strategy and my hair is dyed red with copper tones. Recent face to face client meetings have resulted in really positive feedback. Because I’m good at my job and so long as my hair is clean and tidy it really doesn’t matter. If the midwife is good at her job and comes to work clean and presentable, it shouldn’t matter what colour her hair is.
