Bath bombs

To be (mildly) annoyed when you discover that your bath bomb has 'petals' hidden in it so your water looks more like a scabby pond and you have to try and scoop them all out or risk bark in your hair Shock

I feel you, OP. And the effort it takes to get all of the petals etc out of the tub afterwards makes you feel like it's been a bath wasted...

I once treated myself to a fancy bath bomb only to discover it had actual bits of seaweed in it. That was the least relaxing bath ever. Angry

dementedpixie · 20/12/2018 11:54

I got a glitter one last year and had to scrub the bath to get rid of the glittery tide mark

MrsJayy · 20/12/2018 11:55

I requested no glitter bombs for Dd bloody ruined the bath in my old house it stuck to the bottom and wouldn't shift i was finding glitter for weeks

yiskasha · 20/12/2018 12:09

Bath bombs are just yeast infections waiting to happen.

MrsJayy · 20/12/2018 12:12

I dont understand what is supposed to be relaxing about soggy petals bobbing about your bath.

NoLeslie · 20/12/2018 12:14

I only use bath bombs in hotels. There's nothing relaxing about trashing your OWN bath!!

reluctantbrit · 20/12/2018 12:22

DD got a seaweed one from Lush once. I think it put her off for a while.

MrsJayy · 20/12/2018 12:36

Poor Dd I imagine seaweed was a bit sludgy

Buster72 · 20/12/2018 12:41

My grandmother had a bath bomb, in 1941 a Luftwaffe incendiary device came through the roof and landed inn the bath, it did not explode and was removed succesfully

IHopeThisIsAGoodIdea · 20/12/2018 12:42

I find all bath bombs vile.

toomanysmallpeoplecallmemom · 20/12/2018 12:52

Sea weed? Shock definitely switching back to bubble bath! Although my skin feels lovely- won't matter soon though as my bath is still so slippy despite rinsing that I'm likely to slip and die next time I shower Wink

Seaweed is in the 'Big' blue bathbomb and it's my all time favourite! The smell is amazing.

knittedjest · 20/12/2018 12:59

I feel your pain. My two youngest daughters who still live at home have more bath bombs then they could ever humanly use. Stole one from DD19 the other week and popped it in. It was a bath bomb thaty turned into slime when it touched water.

erykahb · 20/12/2018 13:01

Are you a 13 year old girl? Hmm

MrsJayy · 20/12/2018 13:01

Fantastic knitted just what you needed a slimey bath.

Hidillyho · 20/12/2018 13:05

Oh gawd, it’s the worst. I found perfect ones on naked bath bombs which I loved and didn’t contain weird petal inside but sadly it’s now closed down. Back to the drawing board for me!
Equally annoying is the ones that contain some sort of moisturiser which makes you all slimy and coats the bath in grease Envy < not envy

alltoomuchrightnow · 20/12/2018 13:49

I rarely buy any now as having to clean the bath after a so called relaxing one is not, well, relaxing

BlackCatSleeping · 20/12/2018 13:52

I got DD1 the gel bath bomb and DD2 the glitter bath bomb for their stockings. I predict I'll be spending a fun winter holiday cleaning the bath. Grin

MrsJayy · 20/12/2018 13:53

Tip for soaking up the slippey film is to put a dry towel in the bath it soaks up the oils so you don't slip and break your neck next shower, i leave the towel at least an hour

Alicatz66 · 20/12/2018 15:56

I love bath bombs but agree it's not relaxing lying there thinking you've got to scrub all the glitter or seaweed off the bath afterwards. I agree the cocoa butter ones are the worst .. a death trap for the next bath user if you don't clean up !!

Alloftheboys · 20/12/2018 16:09

Years ago had one for my bday and thought I’d had an accident when sultanas/raisins started floating by!

Motoko · 20/12/2018 18:21

It's easy enough to make your own bath bombs, minus the "bits". You just need bicarbonate of soda, citric acid, some essential oil, and a tiny bit of water. Plenty of recipes online, but basically, you mix the bicarb and citric, add a few drops of EO, and with a mister, spritz the mix until it resembles damp sand. Then you pack it into a mould (ice cube trays are good for small ones). Like making a sandcastle, the harder you pack it in, the more stable and less likely to fall apart when dry, they'll be. Then you leave them to dry out.

Bicarb is good for dry skin, that's why your skin feels soft afterwards. If you add some grated cocoa butter, it will feel even more luxurious. You can buy the ingredients in bulk from soap making suppliers, like Soap Kitchen, or Justasoap. It's a fun activity for kids, and you can even incorporate a bit of science!

FaFoutis · 20/12/2018 18:23

That made me laugh Buster.

kw1091 · 20/12/2018 18:40

I only have to look at a bathbomb and I get thrush 😂😭

toomanysmallpeoplecallmemom · 20/12/2018 19:37

Motoko that sounds like a good idea
