Has anyone done it?

Hate the space it takes up in the kitchen !

People kept telling me I'd need a tumble dryer when I had DS. Whilst I'm sure they're useful amazingly I've managed to get by without one

Iv not needed a microwave yet. You can boil veggies in a pan. What are you planning to feed baby that needs a microwave?

Being Scottish, I read the thread title as 'wean' (pronounced 'wayne') and wondered when 'wean' became a verb. Xmas Grin Xmas Blush

I don’t have a microwave. Started off BLW but now feed some purée as dd likes to eat a lot quickly and is happier spooning in purée then exploring other foods.

I just heat stuff up in a saucepan. Works fine

We didn't have one when the DD's were small. Pureed into ice cube trays, and defrosted in bowls set on boiling water. Job done. When they are a bit older, we started with purees at 4 months, just mash up what you are having, pop in the fridge, and reheat the next day. Couldn't all eat at the same time as they ate so early.

If you think of all the time humans have been weaning babies as a 24 hour clock, the time when microwaves became available is probably something like 23.11.59. Or even less than that...

HeavyLoad · 22/12/2018 18:16

@MiddlingMum (and others using this argument) obviously people managed without microwaves but they also use to manage without cars, central heating, fridges etc... but I imagine most people on this thread no longer live like this!

Life is very busy for most people now so anything that makes things quicker and more convenient is a plus. I never got the no-microwave thing - it uses the least energy of any kitchen appliance. Oven uses the most. And some things (eg frozen peas) actually keep most nutrients microwaved.

Also very handy when we've just sat down to dinner and baby starts crying and wants feeding, so I can heat up my luke-warm dinner. How do you do that without a microwave?
