To ask what you bulk buy

I find it economically cheaper to buy a years supply of shower gel and other toiletteries such as tooth paste and shampoos.

So far I've bulked stocked on dishwasher tablets fairy liquid and fairy bio pods for clothes.

Can I ask for ideas of other things I could stock up on?

The reason I like stocking is because I don't have to go to the corner shop if it runs out which per product is more expensive.

Loo roll, kitchen roll, pet food, fabric softener, pasta, toiletries, batteries, light bulbs, not a years supply in all cases but a few months at least.

Littleraindrop15 · 19/12/2018 13:00

Ooo light bulbs and pasta are a good shout

I've currently got 3x 24 loo rolls at the moment. Pet food sounds like a good idea too

How is it cheaper to bulk buy shower gel and toothpaste?

bluebeau · 19/12/2018 13:16

how big is your house to 1 year bulk buy toiletries, cleaning products pasta, batteries and light bulbs ???

Littleraindrop15 · 19/12/2018 13:18

So for example I managed to find nivea shower gel at 89p instead of £1.50 was on offer so I brought 20 bottles of it (my local shop sells it at £2.49.

Toothpaste same thing I look for the brand I want wait till its on sale and bulk for year.

I got the fairy liquid washing machine pods at 0.11p each which I've bulked for two years.

Does that make more sense?

Not soych room here but pasta, rice.toilet paper and things that I use a lot of when they're on offer.

missmouse101 · 19/12/2018 13:24

As you are a keen shopper, could I just politely point out that it is bought (buy), not brought (bring)? I only wish I had space to do this. The nearest I get is 2x4 packs of baked beans sadly.

skybluee · 19/12/2018 13:26

How long does the nivea shower gel last for?

I bulk buy toothbrush heads if they're on offer, I saw some reduced to £8 from £22.

RayRayBidet · 19/12/2018 13:33

I bulk buy op, I live in Germany and have a large dry cellar. I have a big set of shelves and keep them well stocked.
I bulk buy tinned tomatoes, pasta. We buy rice from an Iranian supermarket in the city centre, it's a pain to go too often so last time I bought 5 bags, each bag is 5 kilos. I also bulk buy soft drinks, beer and cleaning stuff, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, bin bags, kidney beans, corn, stock. I also have a large freezer and keep it stocked with meat which I buy when on offer.
You have to be quite organised here especially because due to the large number of religious holidays here there are a lot of days with no shops open. At Christmas this year the shops close on Saturday night and will be closed until the 27th, apart from being open morning only on Christmas eve.
If there is nuclear war we will have food for a while!

Eliza9917 · 19/12/2018 13:48

Groupon have bulk buy offers, I see ads on there for massive packs of toilet roll etc.

RayRayBidet · 19/12/2018 14:05

Do you know anyone with a Costco card op?

UpstartCrow · 19/12/2018 14:07

I bulk buy beans, rice and lentils during holidays such as Ramadan as they are usually on special offer.

HildaZelda · 19/12/2018 14:13

very little to be honest. Loo rolls and kitchen towel mainly and that's just because I have a friend who works in a wholesalers, so I get them quite cheap as she gets a discount too.

DollyPartonsBeard · 19/12/2018 14:13

We buy a month's worth of catfood (180 pouches) from Bitiba each month. I've got a reminder set on my phone for a week before it runs out. They do free delivery over £39 and it usually comes the next day.

We also buy giant bottles of fabric conditioner from amazon and decant into a smaller bottle for ease of use.

Every few months we do a big (around £60) order of pasta/ curry sauces, condiments etc from Approved food.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 19/12/2018 14:17

I don’t stockpile anything.

TeaAddict235 · 19/12/2018 14:17

I bulk buy too OP:

Rice (African/ Carribean/ Asian shops, 20-30kg for less than £15)

Chick peas (from above shops, 2-3kg for about £3)

All lentils etc

Meat when on offer at the supermarket then freeze

Bread when reduced then freeze

Tinned tomatoes

Tinned fruit (peaches, pineapple pieces, etc, works as a dessert when nothing else or just for breakfast)

Sanitary pads when on 3 for 2

Toothpaste when on offer

Conditioner when on offer

Teabags

Long life milk

Pasta when on offer

I have loo rolls and household cleaning stuff on a subscription, so I have loads in the garage. If I see a good deal on toiletries then I’ll grab 3 or 4. I tend to grab a couple of tins of ‘staples’ whenever I shop and recently discovered I had about 40 tins of chickpeas in the garage Hmm.

Dried food I buy in shop packs from macro, so I’ve got pasta, rice, tea bags, and cereals in bulk too.

nokidshere · 19/12/2018 14:34

Unless something that I would normally buy is on special offer the only thing I buy in bulk are spices, so much cheaper to buy big tubs than the top ups from the supermarket

UhYeahISureHopeItDoes · 19/12/2018 14:36

Mostly bulk buy laundry products, cleaning products and toiletries.
Food wise I keep a small stock of cupboard food like pasta, tinned food and gravy/herbs etc.

I would bulk buy meat, veg ect and make a big batch of meals to freeze but I don't have room for a heat freezer.
