Trying to create a positive thread.

I’m still trying to think of mine.

OP posts:

A 2nd hand bike.

MaggieAndHopey · 18/12/2018 21:57

A Jem doll when I was 8. She was perfect.

Leonard1 · 18/12/2018 21:58

My DD who arrived safely on 24th Dec several years ago after many IVF attempts.

Flutternotsoshy · 18/12/2018 21:59

Grizzler the were-bear when I was 7.

Never thought I'd actually get it (not girly enough) but there he was in all his glory.

Thirtyrock39 · 18/12/2018 22:00

Sony Walkman (as a kid aged about 10/11)
New Adrian mole book that I didn't know had come out (as an adult)

Auntiepatricia · 18/12/2018 22:01

I got a positive pregnancy test on Christmas Eve at 11.45. She’s now asleep beside me here aged 4.

PickettBowtruckles · 18/12/2018 22:02

A puppy. She wasn’t meant to be a ‘christmas’ present and my parents had secretly been looking for a family dog for a while without telling us, it just worked out that she was allowed to leave her Mum on Christmas Eve so ended up being a Christmas present.

Before anyone complains about this, she went on to be a much loved family dog for 10 years before passing away.

£30 to spend on books. Absolutely blissful to receive all of these books, and it was my first Christmas alone. I felt so lucky.

Stephisaur · 18/12/2018 22:04

Spoilt answer - a brand new car from my parents. Complete with bow.

Sentimental answer - my darling DS who entered the world last week. He is the best present I could have ever asked for :)

A Tantalus which was a gift from my DB I’d wanted one for years but had never been able to find one when I looked in local antique fairs, didn’t even realise DB knew I wanted one but had mentioned it in passing, was so thoughtful of him and I love it!
Currently holding a good selection of rum and is a talking point

LightDrizzle · 18/12/2018 22:07

A dolls house with real electric lights. Father Christmas left it in my bedroom and I woke in the night and saw it with its lights on. I hardly dared believe it was real and didn’t get out of bed. I went back to sleep but in the morning it was still there!
I’d seen it in a toy shop window in Pocklington with my mum and thought it was beyond all dreams. I couldn’t believe Father Christmas not only knew, but actually got it for me!

Pachyderm1 · 18/12/2018 22:14

A pony Grin

motortroll · 18/12/2018 22:15

Sindy swimming pool. Without a doubt. A huge present for me as some years we had barely anything. I never noticed at the time but looking back some of my presents smacked of desperation and market day bargains. Eg a waste paper bin for my room (a bucket with a handmade furry cover and a face on it!) and many many charity shop board games!

MustBeAWeasly · 18/12/2018 22:18

As a child, a play kitchen when I was 7 I still remember walking in and seeing it there it was colourful and had hanging pots and pans!
As an adult a kindle paperwhite, it was a complete shock gift from my husband and so thoughtful, I hadn't been asking for it or even looked but he saw me struggling with my phone light with my old kindle bless him hes struggling to top it now

Brigante9 · 18/12/2018 22:19

Last Christmas money from my parents. Bought the horse in the photo with it.

What was your best ever Christmas present?
MaintainTheMolehill · 18/12/2018 22:20

Aw that's lovely Light drizzle😊

Mine was the Christmas I asked for a Wendy House or a bike. I got up in the morning and saw a beautiful Wendy house and went in it and found a bike. I was so surprised.

2nd favourite was a soft toy I got in 1986, I can't remember what it was called but it was light green and you could fold it into itself so it looked like a ball. No idea what they were called but they were very popular.

EustaciaPieface · 18/12/2018 22:22

A Lundby dollhouse when I was about 9, it lit up! I spent all my pocket money on Lundby furniture from John Menzies.

Curlyshabtree · 18/12/2018 22:23

Probably a set of really good saucepans which I still use 16 years later.

Loyaultemelie · 18/12/2018 22:24

A Roomba. I have fibromyalgia and hoovering was agony (dh did hoover occasionally but badly) it has made life less painful and less stressful. However at 35 (last year) it was depressing to be excited about a hoover

PenCreed · 18/12/2018 22:25

My then boyfriend made me a photo album of all the places we’d been since meeting earlier that year. (Day trips and a holiday) It was such a sweet, thoughtful gift and I was so touched he’d made the effort. There was also chocolate.

He’s now my husband and is still sweet and thoughtful. And buys me chocolate.

Xmasfairy86 · 18/12/2018 22:26

An Oh Penny house. No one else I know has heard of Oh Penny. Pretty sure I didn’t make it up 😂😂

Gigis · 18/12/2018 22:27

A bagpuss cuddly toy that growled (in a nice way) 'it's rather nice to have a cuddle!' When you squeezed it. I took it to all my sleepovers and still have it but don't squeeze him anymore because once the battery wears out it can't be replaced. It is getting on for 20 years old now!

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 18/12/2018 22:31

The rocking horse that my mother hand carved. I knew about the rocking horse for months before as she confided in me and we made a time capsule that is hidden in the horse’s hollowed out belly. It’s full of pictures of my siblings and I, letters from me, notes explaining the pictures, family pictures of my grandparents and trinkets belonging to all of us. It’s a huge horse (an adult can fit on it) but she hand made the tack and has real horse hair mane and tail from our ponies at the time. Supposed to be a family heirloom, so in a few generations when them rocking horse gives up- they’ll see what their family were like.

My kids love it and have no idea what it holds inside. Smile

Beetlebum1981 · 18/12/2018 22:34

@MaintainTheMolehill they were called Popples - I got one the same year but for having my tonsils out.

Iwishit · 18/12/2018 22:46

A CD player. I’d already opened a CD which I was more than happy with (presumed I’d play it on mum and dad’s newish CD player) but then went upstairs and found my own one on my bed.
