Fallen for a man from Bulgaria, What to do?

Both worked together abroad a few years ago. Now back in touch, we holiday together and he visits me here in the UK. I've fallen for him but how would this work long term? Not sure if he could live here due to us leaving the EU and I have no idea what Bulgaria is like to live. Is it really poor? Or a hard place to live?

@LEDadjacent - they're all over north and east London. Good Turkish shops also have Bulgarian cheese, looks for the tall metal cylinder packaging. Should be versions made with cow's, sheep and goats milk. Try with honey and walnuts!

That is really not true. It's a beautiful country! One of my DCs worked for the Bulgarian tourist board out there, she loved it. It's culturally rich and offers a lot. I'm sure there's parts that aren't so nice but to call the whole country a dump is a bit much!
