ridiculous parking from neighbour

I’m beyond fed up of this parking situation. This is our situation tonight. Dh is due back from work in about 20 minutes and because of this ridiculous parking from neighbour’s dd, won’t be able to park our Citroen Picasso (not a small car)

We’ve lived here for over a year now and had no problems parking. Last month we had neighbours move in next door and their daughter is absolutely horrific at parking, to the extent where I’ve had to climb over the passenger seat to get into the drover’s seat

They also let their dog out at stupid o clock morning and night and it immediately starts barking!

There’s not even anything we can do as they ignore the door when we knock. They own their house and we rent through a housing association, so there’s not even a landlord we could ask to have a word.

this isn’t the best picture to show what we have to put up with, but this is from a couple of days ago when I last had to climb over the seats to the drivers side

Her parking slightly further over wouldn’t give you much more room though surely?

Lettermethis · 18/12/2018 18:59

YANBU.

It's lazy and inconsiderate to not simply park properly!

Spamfrittersforeveryone · 18/12/2018 19:01

You’re being ridiculous.
Yes it’s not brilliant parking. But it’s perfectly possible to get out of that if you park centrally in your space.

I have a car with an ENORMOUS turning circle. The biggest one I’ve seen listed, it’s like a minibus. If you’re going to have a bigger car whilst living in a house with allocated parking spaces you need to be able to park a bit better or be willing to compromise a bit.

Cachailleacha · 18/12/2018 19:02

I can't tell anything from that photo. How close were you to the lines on each side?

cuppycakey · 18/12/2018 19:04

Huge drama over nothing. She is within her space. She could have a van or much wider car......

I wonder what some people would do when faced with a genuine problem. Your DH can still park straight in the space. If he cannot/will not park there, then he will have to park somewhere else won't he?

whywhywhywhywhyyy · 18/12/2018 19:14

She's parked in her spot. It's a shit park, but she's in her spot.

I'd laugh at you if you knocked on my door about this, honestly.

pinklemonade84 · 18/12/2018 19:15

@Cachailleacha in the photo I’ve just posted, my husband was parked in the middle of our space and ndn dd was right up against and slightly on the line, although she was actually parked straight that time

It’s not the best photo because the window was a bit icy

We had no trouble getting into the passenger side that morning, as our other ndn like to park sensibly and in the middle of the space too

ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 18/12/2018 19:16

How do you propose resolving this if you won’t bang on the door until they answer, or leave a note? I rather suspect you’re enjoying frothing.

pinklemonade84 · 18/12/2018 19:17

@ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn on the rare occasion that she does park properly, we can access the car fine. It’s when she parks and doesn’t give a shit about anyone else that it causes problems for us

OP posts:
ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 18/12/2018 19:18

Right, and until you speak to her about it, nothing is going to change. No matter how many times you post on here.

ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 18/12/2018 19:19

I’m not defending her btw, she’s an inconsiderate arse. But as I’ve said, we can’t change that, you can.

pinklemonade84 · 18/12/2018 19:19

@ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn dh is going to see if he can have a word next time he sees ndn when she’s walking her dog

And to be honest, given that I’ve just had to deal with my dd fitting and get her settled, I’m not exactly frothing over the parking issue to be honest

OP posts:
ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 18/12/2018 19:22

I’m sorry that your DD had a fit, and that it’s hard.

You asked for advice, have been given lots, but still refuse to confront her, so I’m not entirely sure what you want. Unless it’s to keep frothing, which you have been. I’ll bow out now.

whiskeysourpuss · 18/12/2018 19:30

What people don’t seem to get is that we’ve been able to park with no problems for a year.

I've been able to park with no problems for 2 years but our neighbours DS has recently passed his test & has taken to parking badly in my space not really my space just the space I've always used for 2 years I'm now having to park in a different space... unfortunately things change & we have to suck it up.

(We'll not mention that this family also take up 8-10 spaces in the street with their various cars/vans/4x4s & have a boat in their 2 car driveway when it's not taking up 2 car park spaces because they've got the caravan in the drive)

Travisandthemonkey · 18/12/2018 19:30

I can’t believe you started this thread without actually having a conversation with her? She probably doesn’t even realise she’s doing it.
If you’d have come on and said you had asked politely and explained the problem and she told you to fuck off and continued to do it then I would agree with you!
But you haven’t !!Hmm

pinklemonade84 · 18/12/2018 19:32

If I see one of them I’ll have a word. But, I’m not going to go and bang on their door just to get them to answer it. I’d prefer to just drop it in casually when I see one of them next

I’ve said to dh that if he can’t park properly at night when he gets back from work, to use the space in front of the unsold house instead of our allocated space

@ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn when dd fits, it’s just automatic response, not that it isn’t upsetting, it’s just routine now

Littlebird88 · 18/12/2018 19:34

I can't believe people are bashing you for this. . typical mumsnet
it is out of order ... she is too close to the white line and is in my opinion over it.

pinklemonade84 · 18/12/2018 19:35

@Travisandthemonkey I’ve seen quite a few parking threads where people haven’t been able to (at that point) talk to the person causing them problems. They do so as soon as they can, which is what I will do. But if they don’t answer the door other than if they’re expecting a parcel there’s not much I can do at this point in time

OP posts:
Bahhhhhumbug · 18/12/2018 21:25

Of fgs so what if your child has to move across the back seat if you drive forwards into the space.

Cachailleacha · 18/12/2018 21:44

We had no trouble getting into the passenger side that morning, as our other ndn like to park sensibly and in the middle of the space too
So either drive straight in or reverse in so that the driver's side is the one accessible. Front passenger can just get in when you are out of the spot.

Is her parking a problem if you are parked first? I would say something if this is the case and you have to climb over to access the driver's seat.

pinklemonade84 · 18/12/2018 22:09

@Cachailleacha yes her parking is a problem if we’re parked first as she’ll still park close to our car. Some days it’s worse than others. It’s like she just pulls into the space and doesn’t bother to check how she’s actually parked

OP posts:
pinklemonade84 · 18/12/2018 22:14

@Bahhhhhumbug obviously she isn’t always there first! If she’s not there then we reverse in like normal because that’s how we prefer to park

Maybe I should just start getting dh to park in all sorts of ridiculous positions. I mean, the way some of you are reacting, I wouldn’t be unreasonable to do so!

But then again, I like to actually consider other people and we park to try and not cause any hassle to our neighbours

OP posts:
Prisonbreak · 18/12/2018 22:14

If you are unable to park in that space... please stop driving. The space is clear and you are driving a Picasso, a relatively small car by today’s standards. This is a non issue

Littlebird88 · 18/12/2018 22:25

I honestly can't believe these responses. the space isn't clear !!! the neighbour is too far over causing issues
