ridiculous parking from neighbour

I’m beyond fed up of this parking situation. This is our situation tonight. Dh is due back from work in about 20 minutes and because of this ridiculous parking from neighbour’s dd, won’t be able to park our Citroen Picasso (not a small car)

We’ve lived here for over a year now and had no problems parking. Last month we had neighbours move in next door and their daughter is absolutely horrific at parking, to the extent where I’ve had to climb over the passenger seat to get into the drover’s seat

They also let their dog out at stupid o clock morning and night and it immediately starts barking!

There’s not even anything we can do as they ignore the door when we knock. They own their house and we rent through a housing association, so there’s not even a landlord we could ask to have a word.

Is it really that bad? The tires could be a couple of centimetres over but it's hardly ridiculous....

BadgerWithSprouts · 17/12/2018 23:12

Why can’t he park in your space? She is not completely over the line. If he parks facing the same direction and gets his passenger side close to her vehicle, he will easily be able to get out on the driver side leaving her with the inconvenience

BringOnTheScience · 17/12/2018 23:13

Fold in your passenger side wing mirror and front in to park with your passenger side r-e-a-l-l-y close to the neighbour's car.

Margay · 17/12/2018 23:14

Stick this on his car: www.boredpanda.com/parking-note-turtle-coloring-lines-passive-aggressive/

FannyFifer · 17/12/2018 23:15

Just park a bit over surely.

wavesmax · 17/12/2018 23:15

Can you reverse park into your spot so you don't have to get out the same side as your neighbour ?

Pinkyyy · 17/12/2018 23:17

It's really not that bad OP and a Picasso isn't actually very big so I can't see why you're so upset. If someone was knocking on my door to tell me I was a couple of cm over then I'd likely ignore them too.

pinklemonade84 · 17/12/2018 23:22

Dh reverses in because he doesn’t want to cause any extra hassle for our other neighbours

And a Picasso is a big enough car when it has the turning circle of a boat and the spaces aren’t particularly decent to begin with

OP posts:
BadgerWithSprouts · 17/12/2018 23:24

Sounds like the problem is your car being too big for you to park.

SmilingButClueless · 17/12/2018 23:25

It would annoy me as well but I think your unreasonableness depends on the width of the parking space (and how anyone the other side of your space has parked).

I have quite a narrow space and if one of my neighbours parked like that it would make it tricky to get out of my car; if both did then it would be impossible. But I’ve had spaces in the past where parking like that would have been absolutely fine.

She does need to learn to park better, though. The lines look quite clear.

Pinkyyy · 17/12/2018 23:25

Then I'd say that your problem is with your DH driving skills

loubluee · 17/12/2018 23:26

I was expecting to see half the car over the line. She’s on the line but shouldn’t cause a problem.

InflagranteDelicto · 17/12/2018 23:26

Really? They're not over the line. It's tight, but if you can't fit your car in the space then you have a car problem.

I post as someone who takes great pleasure in parking my tank in the tiniest of spaces at work.

pinklemonade84 · 17/12/2018 23:28

There’s nothing wrong with dh’s driving skills, or the car apparently being too big for him to park, he can park properly when he doesn’t have to squeeze in next to something like that

OP posts:
BadgerWithSprouts · 17/12/2018 23:32

Hmm she isn’t straight but she is within the lines. If he parks in the same direction, with your car closer toward her vehicle, he should have enough room to get out the drivers side.

kalefire · 17/12/2018 23:34

Honestly I would've waited until she actually took the piss with parking to take a pic and post it. That's hardly an inconvenience.
Why wouldn't DH just drive into the space?!

Pinkyyy · 17/12/2018 23:36

OP he doesn't have to squeeze. That car is my taking up any of his space.

Pinkyyy · 17/12/2018 23:36

Is not*

Jinglealltheway2018 · 17/12/2018 23:37

You’re dh need to learn to park properly 🤣 talk about first world problems. Honestly you don’t like them and looking for an excuse to moan.

Babymamamama · 17/12/2018 23:38

They aren't in your space just park up and get out the other side? Unless your car is actually too big for your space?

MilkyCuppa · 17/12/2018 23:39

Park with the passenger side right up against the car. Refuse to move if requested. Point out that if the car was parked within the lines this issue wouldn’t have occurred.

RitaTheBeater · 17/12/2018 23:40

Our neighbours had a transit van and parked right up to the line like that because they wanted to leave a ‘pathway ‘ from their front door to the street. It was annoying. I just parked close to them to try to make it as inconvenient for them as it was for me.

SillyMoomin · 17/12/2018 23:40

Mountain out of molehill op

The white car is parked close... but fine

Tell your dh to learn to park

SmilingButClueless · 17/12/2018 23:42

I always thought convention was to try and park in the middle of the space - when did parking on the line become ok?

Longdistance · 17/12/2018 23:42

Just park in the same direction as the neighbour, but real close. Then they can’t grt in their car in the morning. When they knock, tell them to park properly next time and stop parking like a twat!
