Sorry didn't know how to explain it in a title!

I've 2 friends who are lovely people but they seem to enjoy posting crap on Instagram/FB almost digging for compliments.

So one posts a photo of her kids packed lunch - every single day! And of course she gets people saying 'oh wow, can you make me lunch' - Hmm its just a lunch!

Another posts about the things she has to juggle this time of year like Nativity plays, teacher presents, seeing family, xmas jumper day etc cue replies like 'I don't know how you do it' and 'Super Mum'

I don't get it? It's the same for everyone, we're all normal Mums (or Dads) just trying to muddle through, not sure these people (or their friends) think they're any different?

I just laugh to myself. Irritates me but I guess perhaps they're not very confident in themselves.

I’ve got one of these and I’ve had to unfollow.

I know her life isn’t as picture perfect as she makes out, I know both her and her husband have cheated on each other more than once before getting married.

The photos are filtered beyond belief, the “oops aren’t I silly, hahaha!!” Candid photos are fake....

I could go on. Makes me so angry as she is actually a little bit bitchy but everyone gushes about how sweet she is, how amazing she is for having “two babies”.

I sound so bitter but she made me feel so insecure until a night out as a group revealed a lot of truthsAngry

Fb makes me seriously worry about the mental health of some of my friends and relatives.

That’s interesting that a PP think Instagram is a more honest, genuine type of advertising. Not how I see it at all!

Give me a big corporation who is:

  • subject to legal constraints on claims
  • can be challenged via ASA, TA
  • often kept in line by competitors being the ones to mount the challenges
  • quite obviously advertising

Over an individual who is just as likely to be lying but “seems” honest, anyway.

The rise of Instagram influencers is really interesting. They started with everyone thinking they were honest. Then people started to realise that they can be fake, and the product placed with them.

I work with someone who places big company products with social media influencers. She says there’s a sweet spot number of followers. They actually don’t want the highest number - higher in seen by more and more consumers now as more likely to have sold out, and be fake.
