To ask what your sleep schedule is?

fatbrows · 17/12/2018 01:00

I have a horrible sleep schedule and I have no idea anymore what a 'normal' time is to wake up. For me 10am is early :/

So when do you go to sleep and wake up if you're not going to work?

Insomnia is my new menopausal friend -just marked some home work and done dishwasher-decided to accept for now as my new “norm” go to bed at 9pm and sleep until 1pm ish and sleep again 4-6 so surviving!

Groovee · 17/12/2018 03:32

I tend to fall asleep around 9.30 and wake up at 3.30am.

PatricksRum · 17/12/2018 03:37

I sleep from around 3-5am.

knittedjest · 17/12/2018 03:42

12 am to 7:45 am. On weekends might go to bed at 1-2am and sleep to 9am.

Aaaahfuck · 17/12/2018 03:46

Do you work op? I find my schedule is pretty much dictated by work. I'm up now with a thickly cough urgh. On weekdays I go to bed 10 to 11 and wake up at 6.15.
On weekends I go to bed about 11.30 and wake up 8 to 9 ish. I will sometimes lie in longer though.

Pachyderm1 · 17/12/2018 06:58

10ish - 6 ideally. Sometimes go to bed a bit later than that though.

angieloumc · 17/12/2018 07:06

My sleep schedule is awful. Work/school days usually about 10/11 up at 6. Weekends etc usually about 11 till around 8. No matter what I can't sleep past that even if I'm exhausted or ill.

angieloumc · 17/12/2018 07:07

Posted too soon! However even though those hours seem long there is a lot of waking up and just laying there in the night. It's dreadful, I run through all sorts in my mind.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 17/12/2018 07:08

I have always been an early riser. Usually up by 6ish at the weekend even though I don't have kids. Tend to go to bed about 10/1030

Raven88 · 17/12/2018 07:08

I go to bed at 2100 and usually fall asleep at 11pm I watch YouTube until 2250. I wake up at 0530 on work days and 0700 on days off. I sleep a bit later in the winter so it's sometimes 0745.

confusedandemployed · 17/12/2018 07:09

Asleep by 10pm, awake between 5.30-7am. I love my sleep.

fatbrows · 17/12/2018 13:13

@Aaaahfuck I do work but I work in the evenings so I have no need to wake up early.

I really want to start waking up early because I'm missing out on so much daylight in winter. Plus I have exams coming so I need the extra time to study

Sleep schedules can be mucked up by lots of things. Shifts or anxiety for example. Most usually, inactivity can cause sleep problems. Unemployed people frequently complain about difficult sleep patterns - unable to sleep at night, going to bed in the early morning and getting up in the afternoon.
I worked a lot with young unemployed people and I told them I had a 100% foolproof plan to have you sleeping normally within a week. It is this:
At 11 pm go to bed. Do not take your phone, tablet or other devices. Do not watch tv. Do not read.
Go to bed, turn out the light and close your eyes
Don't try to sleep. Just lie there with your eyes closed. If you sleep, great if you don't. it doesn't matter.
At 7 am get up. Even if you have only had 15 minutes sleep, get up and stay up all day.
Rinse and repeat. Within a few days your sleep will be improved and in a week it will be 'normal'.
Does it work? 100% yes.
Did it work on my young clients? No. Because they wouldn't try it. It was so much easier to say that they had sleep problems. They usually called it insomnia, but I pointed out to them, when they turned up late for appointments, that they WERE sleeping, just not at the appropriate time. They were using lack of sleep as a get out of jail free card.
You need to be honest about why you are not sleeping. If you are worrying about something sort it. If you have just got into bad habits, sort that too

yesmelord · 17/12/2018 18:26

I can't for the life of me get to sleep at night so I'm up very late, I try and wake up before 8am but I'm 6 months pregnant with a toddler and if she's willing to have a lie in then I try and lay in bed longer too.

Although I find it puts me out of pace for a routine in the day and I end up having a 'lazy day' if I sleep in any longer. The earlier I wake up the better organised I feel.

cardibach · 17/12/2018 18:31

I’m a teacher, so I get chunks of time when my sleep schedule can revert to its own ‘normal’. It seems to be sleep at midnight, awake at 8. For work I have to to adjust and I generally feel tired because of it.

3WildOnes · 17/12/2018 18:32

Bed at 11pm. Awake for 6am on work days and 8 or 9 on non work days. I love my sleep.

easyandy101 · 17/12/2018 18:33

Can only sleep in 4 hour bursts unless I'm really really tired

Normally go to bed about 1am and wake up about 5am

Dodgepodge · 17/12/2018 18:34

Bed at 10pm, up between 7-8am.

I think I sleep too much.

Celebelly · 17/12/2018 18:35

Asleep between 10pm and midnight and up between 7.30ish and 9.30ish. I'm currently in my third trimester so sleeping a bit more than I might normally as I'm getting a bit more tired than usual. I'm self-employed so can choose when I get up at the moment (not for long I'm sure!)

I worked evenings for years (till about 1 or 2am) and it took a couple of years after I left and became self-employed to get back to a semi-normal sleeping pattern. In fact, pregnancy has really helped my pattern - I used to be a night owl and stay up v late and then sleep in, but now I have to go to bed early Grin

BiscuitDrama · 17/12/2018 18:36

When DH and I were self employed we’d both sleep about 11.30 till 8.30am.
The rest of our lives we’ve had it dictated to by work/school.

OohBabyBabeh · 17/12/2018 18:37

Around 10/11/12 until 7/8/9am

phlebasconsidered · 17/12/2018 18:37

I go to bed between 10 and 11 and get up at 5.30. I have a lot of marking to do and i try to do some after my kids are in bed or before they get up. They have to be at the childminders at 7 so i get up early to squash in some work.
I'm always tired but it's the only way I can get it done and see my kids.
In the holidays it'll probably be 7am starts though. I just never seem to get enough sleep. Quite often now restless legs or night sweats wake me at about 3am and it's mostly just easier to get up.

sunshineandshowers21 · 17/12/2018 18:38

right now i don’t have a sleep schedule as i have a breastfed 5 week old but normally i’d sleep from 10pm to 8am and then have a 2 hour nap in the afternoon before i fetched the kids from school.

PookieDo · 17/12/2018 18:39

10pm to 7am. I am a creature of habit

artemisdubois · 17/12/2018 18:39

I try to make sure I'm asleep by 11, which usually means I'll head upstairs about 10 to get changed, clean my face and wind down by reading or talking to my fiancé in bed (or whatever else).

I get up around 6 every day - I have to fit in a decent walk/run with the dog before work, and even at weekends she's awake by that time anyway, so there'd be accidents or barking if I wanted a lie in.

7 hours sleep is definitely right for me - I'll wake up naturally after that amount of sleep even if I don't set an alarm.
