To click & collect with no car

Blush I really need food shopping, all delivery slots are full until Tuesday. Can I use click and collect even though I don't have a car? Or will I just look like a prize twat Grin

How will you collect?

allyourcats · 16/12/2018 03:40

No reason why not.

flowery · 16/12/2018 03:41

I don’t think they care what mode of transport you use for collection

PenelopeFlintstone · 16/12/2018 03:50

Can you borrow their trolley and take it back later? (Our Click and Collect place gives us the trolley full of groceries and we wheel it to our car - not sure about the UK)

lostandconfusedd · 16/12/2018 04:22

I'll collect it using bags and a rucksack and then walk back home which is frankly easier than trying to do a full shop with 3 young children.
But our click and çollect is at the back of the supermarket where cars go and I've never seen anybody else collect like that Flowers

Depends.

Click and collect at one of local supermarkets is at customer services desk. No problem.

At the other it’s in a dedicated booth in the car park. Bit like a drive-through. Probably tricky.

So find out what the deal is at your local one and take it from there.

lostandconfusedd · 16/12/2018 04:22

I didn't mean to put the flowers

OP posts:
TheChristmasBear · 16/12/2018 04:23

Cross-post. Probably not a good idea then.

Sweepington · 16/12/2018 04:28

Call the supermarket and ask?

floribunda18 · 16/12/2018 04:31

Pick it up in a taxi.

Enigmam · 16/12/2018 04:32

I was going to suggest using a taxi too.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 16/12/2018 04:45

Picking up shopping at my local supermarket is at the customer service desk and they bring it out to you just bag it and walk home

lostandconfusedd · 16/12/2018 06:45

Taxi isn't an option as I'd have 3 young children and a double pram with me

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 16/12/2018 06:48

If you are just going to the Click and Collect bit you won't need the pram will you?

lostandconfusedd · 16/12/2018 06:50

Well I have to take my kids with me? Confused

OP posts:
BellatrixLeStrangest · 16/12/2018 06:53

Surely a taxi is easiest then because you won't have to take the kids out of the taxi?

lostandconfusedd · 16/12/2018 06:55

Ohhh you all mean a taxi there and back!?

OP posts:
CandyMelts · 16/12/2018 06:58

I use click and collect in a drive through petrol station in a city and there's always people on foot

Sparklingbrook · 16/12/2018 07:06

Yes, a taxi there and back just to the Click and Collect point.

Rosalise · 16/12/2018 07:10

Our supermarket click and collect point is in the carpark but it's never busy. You'd be fine on foot.

LemonMousse · 16/12/2018 07:23

Perhaps a friend or neighbour with a car to help?
Or could someone mind the children for half an hour while you nip over in a taxi? (I'm assuming as you were planning to walk that it's not too far away and a taxi wouldn't cost too much?)

swapsicles · 16/12/2018 07:26

Have you got an iceland? Go in do your shopping and they'll deliver it for free ( if over 25/30)

AtSea1979 · 16/12/2018 07:29

Yes it’s fine to collect it on foot. You won’t be the first doing this at this time of year but be careful not to order more than you can carry!

Returning2thesceneofthecrime · 16/12/2018 07:35

It is close ask and collect, not a drive thru. It’ll be fine.you won’t be the first (trust me on that).

anniehm · 16/12/2018 07:42

I've seen people click and collect with a bike, why not a pram? They really don't care. Alternatively Iceland delivers what you pick in store- never used it myself but friends do without cars, could be a useful stop gap (mum says that they do have decent quality stuff these days!)
