What is your really far fetched life goal?

Mine is to climb Everest.

Never going to happen, but it's still my goal! I'll settle for seeing it in the flesh... maybe...

To fly first class to America
To be on strictly
To live on a large ranch in Canada with horses (I've never riden a horse)
To have a career that I really enjoy (Im nearly 40 and haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up yet)

These are lovely. I could also get on board with living on an island in Scotland where we have chickens and a boat to go anywhere...

It is such a shame that owning a house is a far fetched dream - I really hope you can all go at least part way to achieving some of these!

To swim the channel.

Mammyloveswine · 16/12/2018 10:22

I'd love to climb everest... I was a bit obsessed with documentaries and films earlier in the year lol! I just kept thinking "imagine being on top of everest as my Facebook profile pic" Grin

Would also love to make a living as a novelist. And go on xfactor.. I'd love to just get through to boot camp!

Would also love to be a photographer..

Some of mine aren't too out of reach.. Everest is but I might climb ben Nevis instead... Wink

Biggerknickersagain · 16/12/2018 10:35

I always wanted to ride my horse from lands end to John O'Groats. Not all in one go, ride at a steady pace and either camp or stay at horse friendly places on the way. Would take months probably, going on country lanes etc but I'd love that time just me and him and he likes getting out and about 😁

I decied at 10 to buy a desert island. We used to watch Robinson Crusoe as children - wonderful music. That led to my choosing a career with high pay. I still have the chart I drew as a graph aged 10 showing earnings as a teacher, as a lawyer etc and how long it would take to save up for 1970 island prices for undeveloped islands - I assumed you paid no tax and kept all your earnings !

I bought it (in Panama, pacific side, 20 acres) when I was about 42 and we had loads of fun on it for 10 years but I sold it after that. I am very glad I had it and in a sense that ambitiou to earn enough to buy an island means a lot of other things - that I ended up a good well paid job.

This is a great thread. It's made me realise I need a far-fetched goal in my life, just to lift my eyes up from the mundane.

DowntonCrabby · 16/12/2018 11:07

To have a book published and become a hugely successful author.

To travel the world for a year with DH and the DC before they are adults.

DowntonCrabby · 16/12/2018 11:09

Wow Xenia, what a story, maybe you should write a book Grin

Kismetjayn · 16/12/2018 11:16

Xenia, I love it!

I also refuse to believe my life goals are unrealistic, even though several others have named them here. I just keep thinking, Francesca Simon wrote her first libretto at the age of 63 and now it's opening a stage at the ROH. If she can write a libretto at the age of 63, why the heck can't I? I've got 40 years to write a libretto. To become an expert in my field. To save up and buy a small manor house having come from ex council nothingness. Why not? I've come this far, why not take it as far as I can?

ForAMinuteThere · 16/12/2018 12:52

That's the spirit kismetjam

I also got obsessed with Everest films... maybe start at Snowdon for me!

To live on a double decker bus. Grin

Streambeam · 16/12/2018 13:47

To be interviewed on desert island disks

CheeseGirl4 · 16/12/2018 13:51

Go into space.

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 16/12/2018 13:59

To live in the wilds of Scotland with Richard Armitage, a stash of great whisky and enough yarn and talent to run my own little crochet/textile shop. DS and DH can come too and live in a neighbouring cottage where I can visit whenever I choose. Obviously DH would be absolutely fine with the RA thing. Grin

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 16/12/2018 14:00

Oh yeah I would also be a best selling author.
