RiverTam - couldn't agree more about Rogue One... it is firmly at the top for me and I adore Star Wars.

Of course they will, likely not for a long while, though.

The current Potter films are far from perfection as to make them "untouchable" for remakes.

In fact, they are highly flawed: poor acting (did they prioritise finding child actors who "looked" the part, over acting abilities? Because if so, they failed even in that regard), poor screenplay (Kloves can do one, he had such good resource material for characters like Fred and George, yet decided to have them finish each other's sentences for humour?), poor costume design (it's made explicit in the books that wizards don't know how to dress like muggles, yet everybody here wears traditional school uniform or jeans), poor special effects, the list goes on.

I don't think for a second that future filmmakers won't see the opportunity for a remake.

Ooh, and if we're discussing future casting options, I reckon in a couple of decades, Idris Elba would make a fantastic Dumbledore!

The Earthsea books have yet to be adapted properly and would be fantastic with a good budget. They were also written with ‘white’ characters in the minority so would be an interesting prospect in these times....

I don't think it will be for a while, longer than a decade.

The next 3 fantastic beasts won't be finished until November /December 2024. I reckon it will be Cursed Child after that.

On the subject of other adaptations, The Edge Chronicles would make the best Netflix series.

There were odd moments in the HP films which were good, mainly involng Snape, I'll grant you. Otherwise they are a pile of shite. I blame the script more than anything though the casting of the childen - especially HP hmself - was dreadful. Watch the Peter Pan produced by Fayed in memory of his son Dodi to see how children really can act, not just learn lines. (Yes, I know many may find endorsing anything done by Fayed distasteful, but the film is good and in my own defence the firt time I saw it I'd only switched on part way through so didn't know until the end. I admit I have watchejd it in full more than once since, though.)

I can see it being remade as a 10-million episode big budget Netflix series.

It would be incredible a an-hour-an-episode nexflix drama. They’d have time to do it justice.
