Lighthearted Post for fun!

Was having a conversation with my teenager yesterday who was talking about his friend who's birthday is 31st December.

He says it's weird as he can never say his birthday would be 'next year' as it would always be 'this year' and on the day itself it would be 'today'.

It has actually blown my mind and I can't stop thinking about it.

Promise I'll start getting out more 🤣

Does anyone have other similar things/stories that they can't get their head around?!

Displaypurposesonly. You can go one further. On 1st January you can say Two days ago I was x next year I’m x + 3.

I'm aging fast enough as it is!

Retired, but you can't say your birthday is next year and the other two statements be false. Three statements:

My next birthday is still to come in this year.
My birthday is today.
My next birthday is not until next year.

Most people can say one of these statements at various points in the year, it will be the only true statement and the other two false. People born on 31/12 or 01/01 cannot do this. I was born on 31/12 so for the 364 days before my birthday, statement 1 is true. Then on day 365, statements 2 and 3 are true at the same time. At no point is only statement 3 correct.

Display 😂😂

I’ve genuinely never hear anyone answer “this year/next year”. People just say the month.

Also

“30 Dec - I'm 28
31 Dec - yay! Birthday! I'm 29
1 Jan - christ, I'm 30 this year”

No you’re not “30 this this” unless it’s 31 December. On January 1 “I will be 30 this year”. Just like every other person born after 2 January.

Craft1905 · 16/12/2018 16:20

Craft1905. On December 31st, your birthday will be today and next year. Two answers.

Retired65- That's ridiculous. If someone asks you when's your birthday, and it's today, you'll say "actually, it's today". You won't say "it's today and next year."

If your birthday is July 1, and someone asks you in Feb when's your birthday, you'll say "later this year". If they ask you in September, you'll say "next year". If you're birthday is 31 December, you can never answer "next year". Your birthday is either today, or later this year.

Bloody hell some people are thick.

It really isn't rocket science is it!

I can't be bothered to try and explain it another way. I reckon you either get it or you don't!
