Did anyone know where my daughter left her jeans?

Apparently they were ‘there’ but now they’ve gone- I’ve been out all day and at a work dinner so only just got home... I have no idea where these rouge jeans have gone and she’s having a melt down as she NEEDS them for Xmas jumper mufti tomorrow.

So aibu to assume you moved them? If so please tell me where they are so I can go to bed and she can stop her breakdown and my neighbours can stop thinking we live in a mad house.

They’ll be in my DD’s room- it’s where clothes go to die.

They’ll have to stay there I’m afraid.

I actually am afraid- it’s scary in there, not least because it’s where DD lurks Grin.

minisoksmakehardwork · 14/12/2018 07:00

Under the dining table?

(We spent the best part of an hour looking for dd2(6)'s pack of pull ups before dd1 found them in the dining room, under the table. Absolutely no reason for them to be there.

IAmNotLikeThat · 14/12/2018 07:03

They’ve gone back to France. I blame Brexit.

starryeyed19 · 14/12/2018 07:08

#jesuisbluejeans

SoupDragon · 14/12/2018 07:12

Have you asked her where she last had them? That is always guaranteed to result in either the missing item or a roll of the eyes and a pissed off child. Win win.

sashh · 14/12/2018 07:14

In the fridge? I once found a friend's glasses in the fridge.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 14/12/2018 07:18

Has she actually picked things up and looked underneath.
We talk about ‘boy looking’ in our house - I have sons - they swear blind they can’t find things they’ve lost. I go into their room, pick a few things up (rather than just scanning the immediate environment) and usually find what they’re looking for.

Catbot · 14/12/2018 07:19

Tell her to pray to St Anthony.

SoupDragon · 14/12/2018 07:21

boy looking

We have Man Searching. Sung to the tune of Jive Talkin' by the Bee Gees. I also sing it to DD so it's not limited to the DSs

loubluee · 14/12/2018 07:27

Have you tried my laundry basket? Bet you they are there!

Asked ds14, to take his dirty laundry to the laundry basket as it was empty (yay!).

Now have one full basket and one bathroom floor full of laundry. I believe every pair of jeans with a 150mile radius are in there.

For the record I haven’t actually seen him in jeans for months, which makes it all the more confusing why he’s filled the basket up with them!🤷🏻‍♀️

loubluee · 14/12/2018 07:28

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad WOW!! I thought ‘boy looking’ only happened in my house!!

Bouncebacker · 14/12/2018 07:32

DS lost his school uniform - one whole set. He is six so I did helping him look. Everywhere... garage, cellar, all the drawers, everyone else’s cupboards, down the back of radiators, in the heap of stuff on the floor. Eventually found them HANGING UP in his wardrobe- is it possible that your daughter has developed the ancient art of coat hanger origami like my —obviously genius— PFB?

Orchardgreen · 14/12/2018 07:34

Have you checked the dog’s bed?

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 14/12/2018 07:34

Tell her to use her fallopian tubes as divining rods and when her ovaries ping she's pointing in the right direction and just needs to dig.

Alternatively they are stuck to the top of the washing machine drum, inside out on a coat hanger, on the floor at the back of the wardrobe or in the wrong wardrobe, in the ironing pile or under her duvet at the end of the bed. Do you have two washing baskets that stack are they stuck in between?

blueskiesandforests · 14/12/2018 07:40

It's child looking not boy looking.

My dd used to do the same type of "looking" involving just walking around with apparently unfocused eyes not actually seeing anything let alone looking inside or under anything - though for added effect things are opened and closed snd pushed around to create increased mess and unharmonious noise...

She's getting a lit better with age. Her brothers still do it but they're younger. It's child looking, a form of learned helplessness and need to have parents take responsibility from you and sort your problems.

DH is better at finding lost objects than I am, so I don't think it's their willies getting in the way, just a form of regression to helplessness and wanting a grown up to take responsibility... Obviously that does apply to some men who's parents have encouraged it...

Lweji · 14/12/2018 07:43

If so then she went to iron them, got distracted by a Snapchat/ Facebook/ Insta etc and left them on the ironing board with the iron still on hence the smell.

I don't think snap chat/teenager/jeans are even in close proximity to the iron category.

Also, have you looked between the sheets on her bed?

Boyfriend?

EvaHarknessRose · 14/12/2018 07:50

I have experience.

Dirty laundry basket, clean laundry basket, floordrobe or in a random plastic bag. Never anywhere else. But invisible to all but Mum eyes, sorry.

heiheithechicken · 14/12/2018 07:53

Way to over invested in this thread.
I NEED to know where these jeans are.

blueskiesandforests · 14/12/2018 08:01

She must be about to leave for school by now.

DD claimed to have "no jeans" a few weeks ago - they were all in ds1's wardrobe. He'd just taken all the approximately correct size jeans from the clean washing pile. When they were found he admitted that "I just thought those were ones I didn't like" ...

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 14/12/2018 08:05

I cut up all my jeans to make a denim rag quilt...that was a couple of years back, but maybe there has been some space time continuum issues.

There were lots of pairs and some of them did seem strange Hmm

It's very pretty though.

inmyheadimthequeen · 14/12/2018 08:12

Yep, we have 'man looking' and 'mum looking' in this house too - usually with very different outcomes. If not down the side of the bed, has she put them in a bag ready to take them to school/a friends house? Could they have been put in the wrong person's drawer/wardrobe because they look like every other pair of jeans in the world?

RandomObject · 14/12/2018 08:15

I once lost an item that turned out to be in the bread bin. Have you checked the bread bin?

Iamtheonlyupsyone · 14/12/2018 08:19

They've been put back in with someone else's clothes after washing. She needs to check everyone else's wardrobe.

diddl · 14/12/2018 08:26

They don't really exist but this is her attempt to get you to replace them?

CleanBee · 14/12/2018 08:30

WOW!! I thought ‘boy looking’ only happened in my house!!

It's apparently scientifically proven, men can only spot moving objects ie prey Hmm

They're hunters dontcha know.
