Just curious as to if you got yours from DWP (PIP etc). When? And what amazing thing you bought with it? Grin
Mine came yesterday and I bought electric and gas top ups, chocolate and painkillers.

@totallyclueless that's amazing!!! What a fab surprise..I hope that makes your Christmas a bit more enjoyable..just a shame it has to go on a deposit and not to treat yourselves 😔 can't you try and get a grant this time for the deposit? Surely if you have got one in the past, you should be able to get one again? It's worth applying for one, if you get refused..nothing lost is there. Then your DH's bonus can go on something else..I have my fingers crossed for you xx

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 14/12/2018 15:28

What’s coming across loud and clear is that many people, perhaps those not disabled or caring for a disabled person, don’t really give a rats ass about those less fortunate than themselves. It doesn’t surprise me. Imagine living with and caring for your much wanted, planned for and beloved child. That child is now a man but will never be more than a child. Do you get me? The heartbreak? Every day, the “what might have been”? And the future.....don’t get me on that one because I’m likely to want to end it all (and for him).

I’m going to open the £10 bottle of wine in a bit. Cheers everyone!

elliejjtiny · 14/12/2018 16:24

We used to get £40 but it's only £10 this year. Will probably spend it on nappies or towards our massive electric bill.

nannykatherine · 14/12/2018 17:41

what us it ?
do we all get it ?????

Miljah · 14/12/2018 17:55

For the record, I absolutely do not begrudge a £10.

Let us all stop for a moment, and consider that the people who wrecked our economy in 2008 went on to get their usual many, many thousands of pounds 'bonuses'.

It is time we stopped vilifying the disabled and poor. While there will always be 'piss-takers' among them, I bet far fewer than piss-taking bankers.

This must not be a race to the bottom.

FuckCalmRhageOn · 14/12/2018 17:55

Both my son and I are disabled. I spend my day with fentanyl patches stuck to my skin just so I can get to the bathroom. The lack of use of my arms as I can't raise them more than an inch means I still need help. My son has pieces of his brain missing. My husband works. And served his country aswell for over a decade. The extra money is been used towards a cinema treat as a family. Doesn't happen often. So we will bloody enjoy it and feel zero guilt.

I'd trade it in a heartbeat to be healthy enough to go watch my boys Xmas concerts and to see my son in school with his peers instead of a specialist provision. But wishes don't always come true.
Making the best of what we have and doing it with a smile.

Miljah · 14/12/2018 17:56

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy enjoy x

Ahardyfool · 14/12/2018 17:57

I bet all the parents who got the £10 (me included) for their mentally ill children wish the £10s were rounded up and put into actually providing something resembling a functioning mental health service.

olympic19 · 14/12/2018 17:58

FuckCalmRhageOn I'm so sorry, that much be horrendously difficult.

Gth1234 · 14/12/2018 18:03

I got mine, and more importantly £200 heating payment. Very gratefully received.

ladydickisathingapparently · 14/12/2018 18:07

Having read the whole thread but I just wanted to say I hope you enjoy your little bonus and it goes some way towards a little treat for you and your loved ones Flowers.

Wrongwayup · 14/12/2018 18:08

Spend on whatever you want. Ran a food bank yesterday. So many in need and so many judging including half of the volunteers!

caringcarer · 14/12/2018 18:11

Scrooges are everywhere at this time of year. My dh employer gave the gift of 2 hours off from work one lunchtime for staff Xmas meal but all employees have to pay for their own meal and must make the 2 hours up before Xmas.

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/12/2018 18:15

I have brittle asthma, diagnosed age 32, many hospital admissions, I've been told I'll be lucky to make 50, I was 41 last month.
It runs it families, Dd is 17 and has it, she had her first hospital admission last month, I wonder if she'll make 30.
My extra £10 just goes into the pot bit sometimes we have treats, and we'll continue to do so.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 14/12/2018 18:19

Anyone who begrudges people on DLA / PIP £10 at Christmas can go fuck the selves sideways with a barge pole.

Take my disabled child. Go on. Swap you for your kid and the £10.

I’d rather have a child without any disabilities, but hey, I can see the £10 I get for a lifetime of issues boils your piss so have it.

I’m going to spend mine on booze and toast the lot of you miserable bastards.

UterusUterusGhali · 14/12/2018 18:23

People are just so terribly cunty, aren't they, begrudging a fucking tenner to disabled people.

Just shameful.

FuckCalmRhageOn · 14/12/2018 18:30

Thank you @olympic19 but please don't feel sad. We are here. We live the best we can and are thankful for the good things we have. We can't change it so we smile through it the best we can Xmas Smile

HauntedPencil · 14/12/2018 18:30

FUCKING HELL.

Skyejuly · 14/12/2018 18:32

We get the 10 from dla. I usually treat my son to a cafe tea after school.

princesstiasmum · 14/12/2018 18:35

Well my £10 bonus will be going to my son,, as there has been a mix up with his benefits, on checking his UC today, his payment this month w3ill be 00.0, apparently UC thibk he is being paid by ESA and ESA say UC re paying him, hois next payment due 15th January, UC is bloody disgusting, and he is not the only one having no money until after Christmas
Anyone critcising or resenting the £10 bonus should try being in this siotuatioon

Dannii689 · 14/12/2018 18:38

I spent mine on a cheap go pro type camera that I seen on Groupon for £15 so I can attach it to my wheelchair when I'm out with the kiddo, as it is difficult to take photos/videos when you're riding.

Bloodybridget · 14/12/2018 18:41

£10, god. I guess in a way it's money you wouldn't have had otherwise, but OTOH, it's almost insultingly little.

GunpowderGelatine · 14/12/2018 18:45

I bought electric and gas top ups, chocolate and painkillers

Fucking hell calm down OP you absolute animal Wink it's almost satirical isn't it - "lets give the poor people a wonderful Christmas for them and their families - here's £10. You're welcome"

turnipsaretheonlyveg · 14/12/2018 18:52

I don't grude anyone getting 10 quid, I would have hoped that it wouldn't have been noticed by any adult in the 6th richest country in the world when 10 quid hit their bank account. Obviously not, it makes me realise how much I Take for granted.

TheBigFatMermaid · 14/12/2018 18:55

Well, I had no clue I would get this. I got bank charges the other day, which took me over my overdraft limit, so it has mainly been eaten up by that.

Still, when I get my UC on Tuesday, I will be left with the full amount and not lose that bit, so I am pleased. Merry Christmas to me! Grin
