Hard lump in armpit

LauraJLewis · 13/12/2018 10:25

Hi everyone.
I hope everyone is well.
I'm writing to see if anyone has been in a similar situation to me.
About 12 days ago I was in the shower & found a lump in my armpit.
It's deep in my armpit & I can only feel it when I put my arm down.
It feels hard, round & when I press it,it's seems to slip from under my fingers.
I am breastfeeding at the moment.
I have seen my GP about the lump & have been referred urgently for an ultra sound so understandably I'm feeling very stressed & anxious.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
Much love
Laura x

I have one in my boob sent for an ultra sound, everything was fine. Ten years later it's still there but getting bigger nothing to worry about, said I could have it taken out but will most likely just grow back again

LauraJLewis · 13/12/2018 13:35

Really? Was it painful when you had it or just a lump? X

I could have written this - I found a lump in my armpit last week. Its about the size of a pea, very hard and not movable. I thought it would go but it's still there, I have my doctors appointment on Tuesday and I'm quite nervous x

LauraJLewis · 13/12/2018 13:46

Hi my lovely - I'm sorry you are dealing with this too - horrible isn't it.
Where abouts is your lump - mine can only be felt if I have my arm down it feels like it's on the side of my chest of this make any sense at all to you?
I hope your appointment on Tues goes well please let me know x

I had a sebaceous cyst in my lower back that was there for actual years

Eventually went to the docs about it, they confirmed it was a cyst and then it got cut out as it had been there for so long it clearly wasn't going away

Just cos it's not going down doesn't mean it's anymore likely to be something serious

LauraJLewis · 13/12/2018 14:02

Thankyou for the reply I hadn't really thought of t that way I just expected if it was nothing it would just go x

They told DD on the day OP. This was quite a deep lump, she'd had one before and this one felt different, so she was pretty worried. All was fine though.

LauraJLewis · 13/12/2018 14:16

Thankyou bet your DD was so relieved these things are worrying x

As I said before, op, every single poster on here has them. They just aren’t feeling them properly.
Try not to worry. I mentioned one the size of a BIG purple grape on the side of my son’s neck that I could see from across the room to the ENT. She said she then had no choice but to refer for ultrasound because I’d mentioned it. Believe it or not, it was still considered ‘normal’ lymph node size, and is still there.

MaintainTheMolehill · 13/12/2018 18:28

Sorry op just coming back to this, mines stick around for weeks, no pain for a couple of weeks then agony when I'm shaving under there even though I can't see anything. My sister gets them too but hers tend to get infected. She was in hospital week before last to get it drained.

Namelesswonder · 13/12/2018 18:31

Try not to worry, I’ve had an enlarged node in my arm pit for about 10 years. It increases and decreases in size but never goes away completely. Nothing to worry about.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 13/12/2018 18:33

I had my appointment this morning and the doctor said its most likely a gland, if in a few weeks it is still there then go back. It has gone down and has come back again :/ I do have another appointment soon for an unrelated issue so I'll mention it then as well x

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 18/12/2018 14:50

I went to the GP with a breast lump yesterday, and have been referred for an ultrasound too. I thought I'd let you know, OP, that the doctor told me that it's standard practise to refer any breast (and I presume that also includes under arms) lumps as urgent event if the GP feels it's likely to be harmless. That's just procedure.

Try not to worry.

LauraJLewis · 18/12/2018 15:06

I'm glad you were seen if it goes down & comes back up then that is a good things isn't it?
