OP I had my first proper asthma attack at 34. I’d been told as a kid I’d had asthma, then as a young adult I was told I didn’t have it. I spent 13 years without asthma medication.
Then I had my asthma attack, the night of a terrorist attack in the next city from us. I told dh not to phone 999 as I didn’t want to divert an ambulance. I used dh’s Ventolin inhaler probably not supposed to but I had used them as a teenager. Thankfully he completely ignored me, because by the time I was lying on the floor unable to breathe, lungs on fire trying to gesticulate for him to ring 999 they were already pulled up outside.
I couldn’t breathe therefore I couldn’t talk, if I was on my own I’d have had no chance of dialling 999, because I couldn’t have spoken one word. I’d be dead if it wasn’t for dh ignoring me.
Thankfully our local ambulance service was only on standby for the terror attack but I still felt guilty they had come out. I had treatment at home but still needed to go into hospital that night.
I learned my lesson that night, as soon as things are not responding to ventolin get immediate help, things get very scary very quickly.
I would dial 111 and get some advice you may need to see a doctor tonight.
