This is a constant issue but seems particularly bad at the moment.

Posters putting replies on threads without rtft.

Now I can understand not reading every post if it's a very long thread (though it's not compulsory to reply).

But to not even read the OP'S posts - which usually gives you an indication of what's been said and certainly gives all the information other posters are replying using - is SO ARROGANT!

Some I've read recently the poster clearly hasn't even read the VERY FIRST POST properly and missed crucial info.

Seriously SO ANNOYING!

Also I can't remember how to do it but I'm sure some wise mner will and can post it - but you can set it so that OPS posts are highlighted too so you can scan through and find their posts and read them BEFORE you make a suggestion that's already been rejected & the reason or other similarly daft comment.

It's making threads very repetitive to read.

MNHQ - THIS ^^ is why we need a 'like' button..!

I have to disagree here, clearly Brexit is the will of the people and Cadbury's chocolate has suffered as a result of overpopulation of moles in Ipswich.

Seamstress thank you very much.

I'm just getting tired of reading threads with easily 50+ replies giving the SAME suggestion that op has rejected with explanation of a sound reason for the rejection too - purely as those posters seem to ARROGANTLY think they've had this amazing idea nobody else has thought of Angry

How old are the children? If they're children it's their own decision to make!

(OP has said her DC are 3 and 5 already)

Why let the facts get in the way of a good story . . .

Liverpool1944 · 11/12/2018 21:04

Unnecessary use of capitals is SO ANNOYING

wijjy · 11/12/2018 21:06

You've got to remember that some people are not just lazy. You have to make allowance for the very poor comprehension skills too.

Tl:dr

halfwitpicker · 11/12/2018 21:12

Can you please stop using occasional capitals.

Thanks.

Sunflowersforever · 11/12/2018 21:54

Wouldn't it be good if we had a 'like' button?

BumHairDontCare · 11/12/2018 21:57

Agree with you 💯. I don't know if it's been suggested before but we need a like button on here!

A580Hojas · 11/12/2018 21:58

Yanbu.

I would also add - can people PLEASE stop to think before replying on a thread that is 500+ posts long and was started 3 days ago. It is REALLY unlikely you will have anything of value to add.

I quite like a random CAPITAL myself. Easier than italics and somehow not as smug-looking.

Yeaididthat · 11/12/2018 21:59

Yabu.

Liverpool1944 · 11/12/2018 22:01

Can we have a dislike button?

missmouse101 · 11/12/2018 22:05

I just wish people would write properly on threads. I can't bear to see another 'would of' instead of 'would have' and 'loose' instead of 'lose'. I just instantly stop reading. But yes, I agree with you OP!

Liverpool1944 · 11/12/2018 22:05

Didn't read rest of thread but has anyone also said arrogant, long winded opening posts are also off putting and why people don't read all the posts?

Graphista · 11/12/2018 22:05

I just find it easier to do capitals for emphasis than italics or bold on here due to how you have to do it - basically It's quicker to double tap the caps lock and I find too that the italics and bold mechanisms don't always work.

Graphista · 11/12/2018 22:09

Missmouse - as an English grad I do find poor grammar and spelling and some oddities of misunderstood spellings/meanings are mildly annoying - but I am also mindful that English is not all mners first language (and my written standard even in languages I speak relatively well isn't great), and that some mners may have learning disabilities or other disabilities that can affect their writing, or may simply for other reasons not be great at written English - my maths is atrocious but I wouldn't expect someone to point & mock my mistakes, patiently point them out where appropriate maybe.

This happn3ns when I post all the time. They start picking apart and jumping to conclusion even though you’ve rectified that particular situation. Does do my nut in..

missmouse101 · 11/12/2018 22:13

I feel if you are contributing via the written word, you need to do your best to ensure it is correct.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 11/12/2018 22:14

I agree, but it doesn't help when an OP namechanges halfway through a thread & their new posts aren't highlighted. Someone might think they've read all the OP's posts but missed all the ones on the last couple of pages.
