Is it to late to complain

Paddington23 · 08/12/2018 21:03

Decide to have my make up and hair done for my works Christmas party as I’m crap at any of it. Had a look on Instagram at recommendations for make up artists and two canceled so messaged this salon with the look I wanted to see if they could do it. Arrived at 4.15 to the salon didn’t leave till 5.45. I asked for this look with shimmer eyelid and eyeliner see pic below she insisted that we might not need eyeliner as eye shadow would bee over powering with eyeliner too aka she can’t do eyeliner. She then got to work with all her tools that looked like her own and where full of make up. Throughout the make over she wouldn’t let me look in the mirror and kept saying it will look good in the end. She decided to a halo eye pic bellow with gold glitter pic I sent her clearly is a pinky gold shimmer not gold glitter. She puts glue on my eyelid and sticks this glitter to it in the middle of my eyelid and couldn’t blend it out so I had brown part eye solid gold and then brown again with no blend at all. I insisted that I would do my own eyebrows and lipstick ext as I just wanted to leave ended up doing my make up in the lift on the way there as when I got home the hair lady had turned up. Need to complain but I’m to scared I hate complaining this happened last night I’m terrible with words to so dyslexic what do I say cost me 15 for a horrible look

We can't help without seeing what you actually got. We'd need a picture of your eye; unedited.

Pieceofpurplesky · 08/12/2018 23:25

Nobody knows until you show us what she dis

Pieceofpurplesky · 08/12/2018 23:25

*did

tablelegs · 08/12/2018 23:29

Post a picture of what your eye make up actually looked like

EatShitBoswell · 09/12/2018 08:08

FFS the op has already said, she didn't have time to photograph her eye makeup!! And the other photo is to give you an idea of how shit it was. The coloured in bit represents the splodge of gold glitter that wasn't blended in.
She has also said that the original price was higher and was only reduced to reflect the fact she left without having the rest of her makeup done!!

OP I don't think it's too late to complain, I'm not saying you'll get your money back but you should definitely give your feedback. You had several issues you were unhappy about and it's fair enough that you'd let them know.

Paddington23 · 09/12/2018 08:38

I don’t want my money back just maybe message her with some tips for the future

Redcrayonisthebest · 09/12/2018 08:59

Well you'd need a picture of the actual make up, we can't really comment based on your doodle. Also, without a pic you have no evidence to base your complaint on.
Personally I'd be complaining about the eyebrows in the second pic they're horrible!! Grin

Alfie190 · 09/12/2018 09:18

I think what you asked for was really really horrible! The second pic where you have tried to recreate what you got by editing it is just stupid.

You paid £15 for 90 minutes of her time, i think that is complaint enough, I don't think I could be that nasty.

If you are so crap at make up that you have to pay someone else to do it, what kind of tips are you going to be able to give her?

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 09/12/2018 09:26

You don’t have any pictures and you didn’t say anything at the time? I really don’t think you can do anything now (I don’t think your edited google image photo will help as it’s confused all of us Grin)

£15 is crazy crazy cheap so I’d just chalk it up to experience

Oblomov18 · 09/12/2018 09:28

No pictures? So how can we comment? Hmm

Paddington23 · 09/12/2018 09:32

Well I wouldaybe she suggest she use clean make up tools for each client not spend 1.5 hours on just eye make up maybe not offer to do eye make up if you can’t if I client sends in a pic of eyeliner and you can’t do it say so at the time not when your clients getting her make up done

OP posts:
Namechangeforthiscancershit · 09/12/2018 09:36

Of course she can do eyeliner- a trained monkey can whack some eyeliner on with a few minutes of practice. She said you wouldn’t need it with a glittery halo eye and a lot of people would agree with that to be fair.

I don’t pay anyone to do my make up so I don’t know the answer to this but are MUAs meant to wash their brushes between every client. Surely you’d kill your brushes in about a week?

DoneLikeAKipper · 09/12/2018 09:39

FrancisCrawford I genuinely thought it was a RuPaul contestant Blush.

Paddington23 · 09/12/2018 09:54

Well her sponge was so caked in make up and the handle of her brushes had foundation on them and I asked for eyeliner and shimmer just that and she kept putting me off when I mentioned it and I can’t do eyeliner myself so not everyone can

OP posts:
RCohle · 09/12/2018 10:19

But if you thought her brushes were filthy why did you let her use them on you? Surely you can see that using her services and only complaining afterwards isn't on?

MrsT4 · 09/12/2018 10:29

Of course the handle of her brushes had foundation on them? From her hands....

Was she putting the foundation on you using the handles? No. She wasn't. She will have cleaned the heads as per normal hygiene practices I'd imagine.

You aren't getting what people are saying to you, and based on the fact you think it's acceptable to randomly draw on a pic to illustrate what you got, I reckon it took 1.5hours for your appointment cos you were being a right pain in the arse.

I think she discounted it purely to get you out her chair to be honest.

Just leave it.

Paddington23 · 09/12/2018 10:38

I didn’t say anything in the chair at all I sat in silence doing what she asked like shut my eyes move my head left. She pulled her sponge out her bag and it was soaking at full of foundation already. Looking at her page she dosnt actually advertise her doing make up just eye brows and hair. And how was I being a pain in the arse

OP posts:
Paddington23 · 09/12/2018 10:41

If you pay someone for a certain look and they go completely off track give you something you haven’t asked for take ages doing it and the outcome is all horrible and wonky and they don’t have any of the tools needed and the ones she did have are caked in make up

OP posts:
LIZS · 09/12/2018 10:43

You can hardly complain without any evidence and you did not allow her to finish. When you booked had you checked any previous efforts or just gone on trust? Did she definitely say she could achieve that look in the time/budget.

Hogtini · 09/12/2018 10:45

If you don't post a pic of what your eyes looked like then there's honestly no way we can compare is there? Pointless.

Paddington23 · 09/12/2018 10:46

I know I wish I had evidence she did take a photo though herself of before and after

OP posts:
Karensbadger · 09/12/2018 10:49

If you didn’t like the state of her equipment, you should have said so!!!

whatifI · 09/12/2018 10:59

Before you complain, phone her and ask her if she would send you the before and after pics to you as you forgot to take some. Try not to over explain why and talk too much. Keep it simple.
You'll then have evidence and after that you complain to her about the eyes not done the way you wanted plus you can show us!
