Friend says she doesn't like chocolate but eats it anyway??

My friend always says she don't like chocolate/sweets/cake but every time we get together she eats it. Last time we went out she finished by ordering a huge white chocolate dessert dripping with chocolate sauce and cream which she demolished.

She says the same about her son - that he won't eat chocolate, etc, but when you ask her son what he wants to eat he points to the cake or chocolate biscuits.

I don't understand why she would lie about it - if you like cake eat it. She's a bit overweight but works out regularly.

Why lie?

I said “ do you......?” It means that it is a question that could be asked on any one of the unimportant threads on this site (no offence OP!) you always this paranoid? 😂

I love white chocolate. Other types I sometimes eat if I want a sugar/caffeine boost or if I’m hungry and there’s nothing else at hand.

But I don’t like milk or dark chocolate that much. I would eat something sweet with a bit of chocolate in it, like chocolate caramels or Malteasers. But Iwould prefer white chocolate or no chocolate ones.

I think it's a form of denial. Chocolate = unhealthy/calorific = weight gain/unfashionable foodstuff = I want to dissociate myself from it. Trouble is, she can't follow through on her moral high ground by not actually eating it... she just virtuously claims to be anti-chocolate while actually loving the taste of it.

Thanks! My brain doesn't equate cheese with dessert (love them both for different reasons so we do both!). Therefore had totally forgotten that some people see cheese as an alternative to dessert.

I don't like chocolate cake. If I felt obliged to order dessert and the other options were even worse, I might order chocolate cake (and inwardly resent it). Who knows what goes through people's minds unless they tell you? x
