To want a car with 3 full sized rear seats?

BertramKibbler · 08/12/2018 17:18

We need a car with 3 proper rear seats. I’ve been googling, google suggests cars but when we check them out they don’t have the seats.

Does anyone have such a car?

I don't have a MultiMac but a friend does - had a toddler then twins.

Already had a fairly new nice car but one that wouldn't easily fit 3 seats (with 2 obv being baby seats) - Merc A Class 5 door. They hadn't anticipated twins so when they bought the car it would have been fine for a toddler and a single baby.

The MultiMac isn't cheap - but it's a lot cheaper than changing a car, especially as their car was just over a year old.

Tbh I thought it was brilliant (friend loves it). The quality it great and in situ it looks part of the car (their car has black leather seats). She said it's easy to fit and hence they can take it out if they need to transport adults without significant fuss.

As the pp said it connects to the chassis so is really safe and they can remove the baby seats (as I understand it you buy the 3 (or 4) seat config and then baby seats on top of that which attach securely to the system) as the twins grow to have 3 child seats in the back which will last until they are 5/6 years old.

It's one of those things where I wish I'd thought of that!

Ford S max was the best we found when we looked 4 years ago (or the Galaxy which has more leg room).

DH really pissed off the car dealers because he took our carseats with him to try and fit them and was surprised how many 7 seaters don't have 3 full seats in the second row. If you don't want a mumbus then apparently lots of luxury cars have 3 full seats across the back. We didn't investigate that though.

Toyota Auris

Bringbackbertha · 08/12/2018 20:53

Kia caren it's a lovely car with some awesome features including the 3 back seats

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 08/12/2018 20:55

I took our car seats with me to check, every garage was happy for me to try them even if I felt a tit

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 08/12/2018 20:59

All the cars I’ve had in the last 20 years have fitted three adults three proper three point seatbelts in the back.

These have been Renault Laguna (crap car though), Toyota Carina and four different Volvos.

bobstersmum · 08/12/2018 21:00

Op, if it's so you can fit three child seats in the back, have you considered a Multimac instead? You may not need to change your car then!

BertramKibbler · 08/12/2018 21:18

We do need to change our current car! We have a Volvo at the moment and although the baby seats fit we would have to choose next stage seats based on narrowness rather than safety which is obviously not ideal! We also need a vastly bigger boot.

If you’re looking isofix your kids may be a bit young but did you know you can get cars with integrated booster seats in the back- think Volvo offer a couple of models in the UK. I had no idea such a thing existed - only found out when we got a car transfer on holiday & they had them. So practical

Audi A5

RahRahRooRah · 08/12/2018 21:25

XC90, I love it!
2 big car seats (we use Kiddy ones) and middle seat - as a high backed booster (car comes with a kit for this) in the back,
2 adult seats in the third row, and still have room in the boot for the buggy 👍

Amicompletelyinsane · 08/12/2018 21:31

We had a grand Picasso, great on space but awful in every other sense. We had ours from fairly new and it was awful, develops a v common gearbox fault and cost a fortune to fix anything. It was a huge mistake buying it. The gearbox fault couldn't be fixed as it would have cost a fortune and it was unsellable. Now have an s max and it is so much better

BendydickCuminsnatch · 08/12/2018 21:34

Our Citroen C4 Grand Picasso has 3 full size across the back, 3 isofix across the back too. And 2 full size (I think) fold down seats in the boot.

We got a Dacia Duster specifically because it could fit 3 child seats across the back. The seat is flat which helps ENORMOUSLY!

grumpy4squash · 08/12/2018 21:43

I've got a Kia Sedona (7 seater). Cheap and hideous, but the seating arrangements are great as the 2nd and 3rd row seats come out individually and there's tons of space with one or two seats out. Also has sliding doors which are excellent.

Focalpoint · 08/12/2018 21:45

Skoda kodiaq

PaddyF0dder · 08/12/2018 21:46

Vauxhall Zafira does it. I know this because that’s what we use.

Shite car though

Japanesejazz · 08/12/2018 21:46

My forester has 3 proper seats in the rear.

ItWentInMyEye · 08/12/2018 21:49

C4 grand Picasso exclusive. We've had 2 boosters and a car seat in the row of 3. Plus you know, there's a little fridge bit on the dash.... that we use for CDs Grin

bobstersmum · 08/12/2018 22:38

Have you looked at what a Multimac is?

Tiscold · 09/12/2018 00:43

Quite strange in such a short space of time such a large numver of posters all singing the praise of this expensive product. Dpes anyone else sense a hint of marketing and bots here?or is it just my nose going funny?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 09/12/2018 08:16

Yes @tiscold of course.

Because heaven forfend that the MN community does what it’s meant to do and help other parents out with solutions to problems.

If it helps you at all should I get this expensive product I’m evidently sponsored for the cost of that will exceed what I paid for my 2005 car. But it’s a great car and the Multimac could allow us to hold onto the first reliable motor I’ve ever had.

Just don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story though.

Tiscold · 09/12/2018 10:41

Oooh someone roll out the wrong side of the bed?

I said it's a bit suspicious that so many posters are all suggesting the same extremely expensive product with all glowing reviews. Especially when the first post literally sounded like a marketing ad. and the poster then posted another post not long aftwr saying she doesn't have the product but her friend does and it's amazing.

But hey i understand why you defended your position.

HellenaHandbasket · 09/12/2018 10:54

Someone asks about cars that can fit 3 seats, and a few people suggest a seat set up that can be used in any car...and you think that is suspicious?! 😂

BertramKibbler · 09/12/2018 10:55

The multimac is of no use to me anyway, I did come across it when searching for options though.
