To want a car with 3 full sized rear seats?

BertramKibbler · 08/12/2018 17:18

We need a car with 3 proper rear seats. I’ve been googling, google suggests cars but when we check them out they don’t have the seats.

Does anyone have such a car?

We had a Citroen Picasso for this reason, our older Zafira had a small (uncomfortable) middle seat. Citroen rubbish in other ways but v roomy, excellent boot space and good fuel economy.

ForAMinuteThere · 08/12/2018 19:25

If it doesn't have three full isofix seats you shouldn't be squashing three seats in, even if they fit. It isn't safe.

So zafira has been mentioned but does not have three full seats, for example.

I think the only ones that have them are;

Citroen c4 grand Picasso (or older picasso)
Peugeot 5008
S max
Peugeot 307 (but they are smaller)
Vw sharan
Seat alhambra

I've probably forgotten some or missed some but anything without three isofix points is straight out.

Don't cram seats in...

ForAMinuteThere · 08/12/2018 19:28

Oh and the Ford galaxy and some landrovers.

Someone said Touran, we looked at several and the middle seat was not isofix on any of them.

ForAMinuteThere · 08/12/2018 19:30

Ignore that, the new tourans do.

Monst3ra · 08/12/2018 19:32

Can I ask why it's not safe to have 3 across if the middle seat isn't isofix?

PetuliaBlavatsky · 08/12/2018 19:32

It is weird that what car report, it says the Renault grand scenic won't fit three seats across but I had this car with 3 under 4s and specifically bought it because it was one of a very small number of cars with 3 rear seats with isofix and I used it with three car seats for years. I have a grand Picasso now and it has three proper seats in the rear.

BertramKibbler · 08/12/2018 19:34

I think we’re looking at a grand Picasso, despite its rather unglamorous look!

We want the 3 isofix points and don’t want a big SUV.

I have an SMAX with three child seats and then optional 2 seats in the boot. Love it!

Day2andCounting · 08/12/2018 19:35

With Isofix

Wasywasydoodah · 08/12/2018 19:36

To Foraminute Of course you can fit 3 car seats in the back without 3 isofix points. It’s just a matter of finding the ones that slot together. Took us a few tries, but the in car safety centre in Milton Keynes solved the problem. Mothercare told us it was safer for our 7 year old to not have a seat than to try to get one to fit. Bollocks. Anyway, to OP: try a galaxy or S max.

MorningsEleven · 08/12/2018 19:38

We had a Verso and it had the required seats but I hated it.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 08/12/2018 19:40

We have seat alhambra one of few cars with 5 isofix seats, loads of space

ForAMinuteThere · 08/12/2018 19:41

That's good in car safety helped you. Guidance I have always had is if there isn't an isofix point it isn't a full size seat and you run the risk of buckle crunch/seats touching etc, which should not happen in any way. This was from a car seat fitting centre too!

But, I assume from that there are cars with big middle seats that just don't have isofix and you can therefore get three in that don't touch.

Interestingly Mothercare said the same to me and said he will be fine without a seat... um...

greendale17 · 08/12/2018 19:42

I wouldn’t touch Citroen, Vauxhall or Renaults with a barge pole

livingthegoodlife · 08/12/2018 19:42

Vw Sharan - 5 proper full size seats with isofix points for all. Plenty of feet space too.

DeRigueurMortis · 08/12/2018 19:43

Or you could buy a car of your choice and buy one of these:

They come in different configurations and colours depending on what you are after.

We have baby three on the way and have just bought an S max, its perfect. Loads of space, really nice car with loads of gadgets.

Scissor · 08/12/2018 19:49

Moved from Sharan( too expensive to run and too big,) to Renault Scenic, 3 under 4 so three substantial car seats, that car lasted 9 years cheap as chips, ugly as sin and I cried when it got crashed into.

gingajewel · 08/12/2018 19:59

Renault grande scenic is a seven seater but the three seats in the second row are all the same size and all fit a car seat in.

Jimdandy · 08/12/2018 20:17

@quarterpast I have a galaxy too I love it.

Yes 3 full sized seats

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/12/2018 20:23

Please investigate what @DeRigeurMortis is saying. We are expecting #3 in June and don’t want to give up the best car we have ever had: the Honda Accord Estate.

The Multimac website claims it can fit four seats in the back of a UK standard Ford Focus and attaches to the frame of the car. Purchase, extras (baby ERF seat), fitting will cost us £2K: extremely expensive but we can’t afford to get a mumbus and I’ve heard really mixed stuff about Picasso’s and Alahambras.

DuggeeHugs · 08/12/2018 20:30

I have a Peugeot 5008. All three middle row seats have isofix and are a doddle for fitting the car seats. Can't imagine going back to a smaller car now!

OnceUponAGiraffe · 08/12/2018 20:33

Another advocate for the 5008. It’s not the beautiful car around but it does the job and is cheaper (well it is a Peugeot...) than many of the alternatives..

HellenaHandbasket · 08/12/2018 20:34

Isofix isn't essential in any way

EmUntitled · 08/12/2018 20:35

Fiat multipla has 3 in the front and 3 on the back. All full sized seats and all separately removable.
