Is this weird?

Hey,

I have just thought that this might be odd?!

DH and I have been together for 15 years. We have separate money and put the same into a joint account which covers bills. We earn roughly the same.

We buy Xmas presents separately. We each buy stuff for the same people but separately. We have two DCs 1y and 3y and we have bought them seperate things from Santa - probably spent similar.

Is this weird or normal?!! :)

How are they buying presents twice?

They're two people!

When I was single, if I bought someone a present, was that then only half a gift?

Or have I totally misunderstood the original post? I'm super confused.

I pay mortgage DP puts the same in bill account.
I’m on mat leave so he’s buying food but I pay for all baby stuff.’we each buy presents for our own people so I buy for my family, he buys for his (I’m embarrassed that his side don’t get birthday cards or presents but I’m not doing it!).
This is our first Christmas with DD and he has gone off and bought his own things so I have bought my own too. They are all from us both though.
We started like this because he was awful with money. He’s better now but I’d still rather be financially independent!

I had to do everything at Christmas, but all the presents, send all the cards, remember all birthdays too. I could've throated my husband when he'd ask something like 'did you send Trever a Christmas card?' Nope I didn't, and then he'd get upset I didn't! Well you do the bloody cards then!
Now we live on the other side of the world and I don't bother with any of it. The post system here is crap. It's heaven!

I'm not really sure why I posted above as it has no bearing on the Ops statement but just thought I'd vent! 🤣
