to not have a routine for my baby?

I have a 7 week old baby. I keep reading that people have routines for their children of a similar age, but I have no routine at all. I feed him when he's hungry, put him down when he falls asleep, and just follow his lead....

Should I have a routine?

I'm quite lost and just don't know if I'm doing it right or not...

My son is nearly 2 and we still don't have a 'set' routine. He wakes, has breakfast, get dressed, usually go out somewhere in the morning, lunch/nap (sometimes he naps first, other times naps after lunch, depends on what time he woke), afternoon play at home. Only thing that's set is evening routine which is dinner, quiet play, books, bath, milk, bed. He's easy going if I decide to have a day at home or we go out for the day, etc.

Please don't worry, especially so young. You'll find your rhythm naturally as your baby gets older. Just enjoy whatever you're doing. Congratulations on your little one Smile

Shantay only because she likes it. If she hates the bath trust me we would do it as little as possible but because she seems to enjoy being in water we've started doing it.ds was the same and it helped establish nighttime for him.

@LisaSimpsonsbff Oh I agree completely - but I do think having a routine has helped her avoid some of them so far. But no doubt she'll have other issues - they all do!

I have four children and DC4 is 5 weeks old. I’ve never bothered with a routine until they were 4-5 months of age and started to become more active and awake during the day. When they’re this young they need feeding on demand so every 2-3 hours usually, it’s impossible to expect them to slot into a routine imo.

I have a 3 month old and definitely no routine. She started sleeping 6 hours at 9 weeks so to help it coincide with when I want to sleep I try to keep her awake from 5pm. Luckily she is normally hungry every hour up until 11pm so if she naps it is only for an hour.
