To think that most people on a plane don't know where they are going?

When I talk to people they often have an appalling knowledge of geography - not knowing where Poland is, confusion which ocean is which etc; geography is my area of employment.

I think I could get on a plane and ask people to show me where they are going on a map and they couldn't - why do people not know where places are?

To be perfectly honest, I'd prefer to learn a few phrases - please, thank you, etc in the language rather than try to work out exactly where I was 'going'

They're not either/or activities. You could do both.

Knowledge etc is actually irrelevant here.

Considering we all have smart phones and the internet, you don't actually need to have studied Geography (not that modern Geography would have taught you this kind of thing anyway). All you need to do is spend a few minutes on Google and all you need to know is just a click away.

I find it more worrying that apparently so many people can't even be arsed to spend a few minutes Googling. I find that a lot worse that mocking people who don't know about the place they're going for lack of general knowledge.

^ I said that and got called judgemental. 😂

What is google for if not to find out information.

I didn't suggest they were either or activities I explained it actually would mean anything to me to look at a map, I still wouldn't really get where I was going.
What I meant was my time would be better spent learning some of the language, I could actually do that.
