Those sliced turkey with stuffing and ham parcels

Wibu to buy these from our local food market and serve them on Xmas day? Those ones you get served at Xmas dinners and things? I’ve just thought about it and seems so much less faff, I would also do extra stuffing separately, but the thought of not buying/storing/cooking and carving a massive turkey that no-one is really fussed on anyway, really appeals!

Would you mind this?

Oh no, no no no no no no.

MissMalteser · 06/12/2018 11:34

@RedLife really :( honestly we’re a family who is all about the sides (and 6 different types of stuffing) I may put it to a family vote and see what they think 😂

Grin I'm only pulling ya leg. I'd do it especially as no one is bothered. No one particularly likes turkey here so we're having gammon and lamb!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 06/12/2018 11:58

I still can't picture what they are?!

Fishandthechips · 06/12/2018 12:01

I would be so much happier with that than turkey! Pretty much everyone ive had Christmas dinner with only really just about tolerates carved turkey because its Christmas. I imagine loads will now come on to disagree with me but if it works for your family and they prefer it then go for it!

EmUntitled · 06/12/2018 12:28

Sorry I have no idea what you're talking about. If you are cooking christmas dinner for other people, its up to ypu what you cook. If they dont like it, they can habe the faff and expense of cooking next time!

purplecorkheart · 06/12/2018 12:48

Sounds fine, so much less hassle than a big turkey

MissMalteser · 06/12/2018 12:54

For those asking it’s these bad boys!

I've never seen those before. They don't look at all appetising and personally I'd rather buy a turkey crown but if you like them then there's nothing wrong with having those.

babysharkah · 06/12/2018 12:59

Oh god no they look awful! Just do a chicken or anything or just the sides!!

BertramKibbler · 06/12/2018 13:05

When you said parcel I imagined pastry. Disappointed now!

MoonriseKingdom · 06/12/2018 13:07

I’m considering something like this that is minimal fuss and is a bit more attractive.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 06/12/2018 13:11

I’ve never see those before. They look like they’ve been made with cheap sandwich meat [hurl]. I wouldn’t serve those, no.

MissMalteser · 06/12/2018 13:21

😂 that was the best picture I could get but the ones they serve in restaurants for Xmas dinners etc can be quite tasty! Honestly 😂

M&S and Sainsbury’s do a “ turkey crown “ which is just the breast. It’s not as processed looking as the ham and stuffing sort.

MammaSchwifty · 06/12/2018 13:29

Bleargh! They look anaemic! I really thought you meant some delicious puff pastry type confection, a bit like a turkey and stuffing pasty wellington.

I agree that doing a whole turkey is an ott faff if you're not that bothered about the meat, but there must be something else you can do? What about a nice roast chicken?

TheDustbunny · 06/12/2018 13:37

I've never been served that in a restaurant at Christmas. The components have always been served separately.

PermanentlyFrizzyHairBall · 06/12/2018 13:39

I'm all about the sides too but from the picture above it would have to be a nor from me, it would be really not a special meal. I would just get a turkey crown and some pre made stuffing. Really no effort at all.

PositiveVibez · 06/12/2018 13:42

The way that is presented on that pic is horrible 😂

I'd rather have a festive bake from Gregg's

HollyBollyBooBoo · 06/12/2018 14:10

Never seen it in any restaurant! So basically just a slice of ham, some stuffing and a slice of turkey? What's so different to any other roast? Where would you buy it to serve it like that?!

SilverySurfer · 06/12/2018 14:35

I would consider that inedible. Why would you want to serve up such crap on Christmas Day? Turkey isn't obligatory, how about a rib of beef or even a nice free range chicken?

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 06/12/2018 14:42

Sorry that pic looks awful! What about a frozen joint from Iceland? They must be better than that!

MrMakersFartyParty · 06/12/2018 14:44

I'd rather have a pot noodle!

Llanali · 06/12/2018 14:46

That looks grim. If you don’t want to do a turkey, just do a chicken, or whatever, but please don’t serve two slices of aneamic water injected reconstituted “meat” with some stuffing made from the scraping of the factory floor.

MissMalteser · 06/12/2018 14:51

😂😂😂 you all have my doubting my decision now! Happy to be told aibu but full disclosure I may do it anyway 😂
