I'm on t the only one who thinks this is completely bonkers right?
Why do people do this? Surely bread would be better dipped tolo lock in flavour?

Bonkers.

Grilledaubergines · 06/12/2018 11:09

I know people who have crackers with soup because that’s what they prefer over soggy bread. Not sure it’s that unusual.

Bluebelltulip · 06/12/2018 11:10

I have crackers with soup frequently but only since I had to stop eating gluten as gluten free bread isn't great but crackers are ok.

Parkrunner25 · 06/12/2018 11:18

It's reasonably common in the US. But most American bread is super sweet and a bit nasty anyway.

Whyislarryhappy · 06/12/2018 11:21

Never knew this was common in USA. Im in uk over here!

I’m the same as Bluebell—I eat gluten free and gluten free bread sucks. The gluten free oatcakes are delicious tho and go well dipped in soup.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 06/12/2018 11:25

Very common in the US - in fact, soup crackers are an actual thing.

I eat crackers with soup because I’m trying to lose some weight and they are way less calories. I often do it anyway though, even when I’m happy with my weight as I just find that bread is so filling and I would rather fill up on soup than bread

Beebee8 · 06/12/2018 11:27

I did this yesterday because I didn't have bread with me but did have crackers in my desk drawer. It didn't work and I won't be doing it again Grin

hazeyjane · 06/12/2018 11:28

I love soup and crackers!

RTFT · 06/12/2018 11:34

Got to be bread

purplecorkheart · 06/12/2018 11:54

Very common in USA. Loved the clam chowder and crackers when over there. Sometimes bread and soup can be too filling

goingonabearhunt1 · 06/12/2018 11:58

I like soup and crackers. I often put Philadelphia on the crackers too.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 06/12/2018 11:59

YABU. Now I want soup! Though not with crackers. A slice of crusty bread with butter. Maybe a little morsel of cheese :) a cheese scone is nice with soup too.

Do people dunk the crackers in the soup or just eat them alongside it?

Ski4130 · 06/12/2018 12:02

Soup and crackers is my children’s go to illness food! All three crumble a cracker in, the eat soup and slightly crunchy cracker with a spoon. They love it.

TheQueef · 06/12/2018 12:04

Dumplings, suet ones are surprisingly nice in most soups.

Crackers are for cheese or potted meat.

ElainaElephant · 06/12/2018 12:05

Soup and crackers is great, especially tomato soup.

I also have bread or oatcakes or cheese scones or bread sticks depending on what I fancy/what is in the house.

Busybusybust · 06/12/2018 12:06

The ultimate comfort food! Heinz tomato soup and jacobs cream crackers, with loads of butter.

Frankswife87 · 06/12/2018 12:09

Sod crackers or soggy bread in soup, sausage roll dunked in to tomato soup is the food of god's Grin

Frankswife87 · 06/12/2018 12:09

Oh and it must be Heinz tomato !

SpannerH · 06/12/2018 12:14

Going to throw a spanner in the works here (oh dear) I like soup and chips the best Grin it reminds me of childhood although a lot of people think its very strange !

SpoonBlender · 06/12/2018 12:40

I prefer bread, but I'll crumble crackers if there isn't any. Crouton-like, innit.

halfwitpicker · 06/12/2018 12:50

Wonder why this evolved though? Crackers rather than bread?

🤔

halfwitpicker · 06/12/2018 12:50

I e. In the States

Monty27 · 06/12/2018 12:52

Posh woman at work puts crisps on her soup. Whatever floats your boat I guess Confused

starlight45 · 06/12/2018 12:53

I think it's because in America the bread is sweet.
