On here and on fb. People are so quick to respond to sob stories without giving the slightest heed to the fact that they are almost certainly bullshit.

I know people will say that truth can be stranger than fiction and that events in their own lives have seemed unbelievable but come on. Some of the stuff in here at the moment is akin to the dog with ham in his face!

One person in the north of England taped razors to a slide. Now every FB page in the U.K. has a warning for parents to be on the lookout for this.

It is not likely that the person who did this once, to one slide, is now going to commute across the country doing it in all playgrounds.

By sharing it on FB people are encouraging copy cats and actually make the danger real.

My personal favourite at this time of year "

"my friend Janice saw an Asian man/woman drop their wallet, she chased after them to hand it back, she refused a reward so they said " tell you what stay out of " insert local shopping centre here" on random date".

It's racist and will scare vulnerable people. I have heard it so many times

All the facebook ones make me laugh but the itunes ones are very sad and very common. I work in a large supermarket and we have warned our colleagues about them. It is almost always eldery people and is always a few hundred pounds which if they get swsy with they then repeat the following week. The scammers must be very very convincing because I have had a number of people refuse to believe me when I tell them. I refused to serve an eldery gent with £700 worth of vouchers and he was very angry and abusive, wouldn't leave the store, in the end the police had to come and take him home

I think of a message on the side of a bus when reading this thread. About £350m?

Kannet - that one has been doing the rounds for decades, and has evolved from 'a man/woman with an Irish accent' in the 70s/80s/90s.

Yeah I remember the dropped-wallet one being around so much it came with variations Grin

“Since you returned my wallet I’ll give you some advice - Stay out of the Trafford centre this weekend!”
“Oh my God is there a bomb?”
“No, it’s just shit.”
