Ordered this tankini from ASOS. Arrived today, and I was surprised (and annoyed) to find just the top?!

AIBU to have expected both the top and bottom?

Spent £5.95 on next day delivery for half a tankini Hmm

The often come separate these days

Greenteandchives · 05/12/2018 13:29

YANBU. It surely must be a mistake.

hammeringinmyhead · 05/12/2018 13:29

Yanbu. It should say "top"if it isn't a full tankini.

Ilovewillow · 05/12/2018 13:30

It states Tankini not top of Tankini and I can't see anywhere wheres it states its a separate buy so I would've assumed you would get both pieces. I would check with them!

Villanellesproudmum · 05/12/2018 13:31

It doesn’t say tankini top so I’d expect both.

MrsLettuce · 05/12/2018 13:31

YANBU I hope you've complained.

An awful lot of their swimwear is sold as separates and that's not always as clear as one might hope but this states nothing of the sort. Surely it's a mistake on their part?

Steamedbadger · 05/12/2018 13:32

YADNBU. Surely without the bottoms it's just a 'tank'? And the page doesn't even show the bottoms as an option to go with it.

MargotSimpson · 05/12/2018 13:32

I’d have expected top and bottoms. YANBU

Stormwhale · 05/12/2018 13:33

I think it's a mistake. Usually if they are separates it will state it on the information. I would send them an email saying you have only received the top.

MoaningSickness · 05/12/2018 13:34

I agree it's unclear. (And they want another £10 for the briefs!).

8DaysAWeek · 05/12/2018 13:35

Thanks everyone. I know a lot come as separates, but I've had a browse and they state clearly on other products that it's a top, or bottom. And they don't have the option to buy the bottoms anywhere (admittedly it's on sale so these may be out of stock).

You take a risk with online shopping and I usually suck up the loss of postage costs if needing to return, but do you think it's worth trying to get this back too?

Just found the briefs! I swear these were not on the list when I was looking at maternity swimwear! Gah!

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 05/12/2018 13:37

A tankini implies full set. As does the picture. No where does it state that it's singles, not even in the "you might also like" section - which if you need bottoms you think they would be shown there.
I think you've been mislead, I would complain.

SoupDragon · 05/12/2018 13:46

I would, yes, as it doesn't specify that it's just a top. However, it doesn't mention the bottoms at all in the description, it just describes the top. They've made a mistake in the item header rather than a mistake in what they've sent.

olivertwistwantsmore · 05/12/2018 13:51

I've never bought tankini top and bottoms together! Always separate.

diddl · 05/12/2018 13:55

I always thought that a tankini, like a bikini was both unless otherwise stated.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 05/12/2018 13:55

The product description actually says “just add water” NOT “add bottoms”.

YANBU I would definitely expect the complete outfit.

Fink · 05/12/2018 13:59

Definitely complain. I wouldn't return because of the postage costs, as you say. This isn't something you bought which didn't fit etc., they've actually sold you only half of what they've advertised.

It says "Just add water" which implies that you don't need any other items to enter a swimming pool.

But you do!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/12/2018 14:07

YANBU

Nowhere does it say it's just the top - in fact, beneath the picture it says "Just add water" in a, light-hearted way. It doesn't say "Just add water and a pair of bottoms available for £x here, so that you can order them.

I agree that the tops and bottoms are often sold separately, so pear-shaped ladies like myself can get a size 12 top and a size umpteen bottom, but it doesn't indicate that here.

Tinty · 05/12/2018 14:15

Maybe it is the easy baby release system birthing pool option Smile.

Pigflewpast · 05/12/2018 14:16

Perhaps they think with a huge bump you might not notice unless it’s a bit breezy. Brilliant

Not sure the plunge to your navel suit in other items you might like would appeal to the pregnant shopper

Bombardier25966 · 05/12/2018 14:20

I always assume swimwear to be separates.

Returns are free for ASOS.

The best you're going to get from ASOS is your postage refunded.

8DaysAWeek · 05/12/2018 14:22

tinty 🤣 well I am planning another water birth so maybe I can use it after all!

While separates are common, I agree, maternity clothes aren't usually as versatile/broad ranged compared to the normal stuff so a maternity 2 piece isn't totally out of the box thinking
