Ordered this tankini from ASOS. Arrived today, and I was surprised (and annoyed) to find just the top?!

AIBU to have expected both the top and bottom?

Spent £5.95 on next day delivery for half a tankini Hmm

Anyone here remember the 'OP your minge!!' PP? She may take it off your hands if you can't return it Grin

PyongyangKipperbang · 05/12/2018 14:27

I'd kick up a stink and if they refused to send the bottoms I would return the top and push for refund of the postage costs.

AndThereSaw · 05/12/2018 14:31

I just wasted ages searching for the 'YOUR MINGE!' thread. As I can't find it there's really no point referencing it.
...except there is.
Maternity tankini my arse!

I have been though several sites and they all either state 'tankini top' or include a whole tankini where stated or, in one case, they called it a tankini when it was just a top but showed the briefs underneath as a suggested purchase.

EdisonLightBulb · 05/12/2018 15:02

Crazy, they should at least have had the bottoms listed on the same page so you could see they were separate and not hunt for them.

Lweji · 05/12/2018 15:05

I'd complain to the seller.

It looks as they've spent too much effort trying to be cute that they forgot how to be clear.

Based on the link, I'd expect the full tankini and would ask them to send the bottom for no extra cost.

8DaysAWeek · 05/12/2018 15:06

I need to find this minge thread...

It's advertised as a tankini not a tankini top.My guess is they've made a mistake in packing.Complain.

WinterfellWench · 05/12/2018 15:25

@8daysaweek

This is odd. YANBU. Nowhere on that listing does it say 'top only.'

Tell them, ask for your money back, and ask them to redo their description coz it's verrrrrry misleading!

Saracen · 05/12/2018 15:30

Yes, they've made a mistake. Either they forgot to send the other half of the costume, or they described it incorrectly. Either way, they now need to supply you with the rest of the swimming costume, or allow you to return the top half and give you a full refund including postage costs.

TrickyKid · 05/12/2018 15:34

I'd say it's a mistake. There's no mention on it being sold separately, I would've expected the bottoms too.

Looking at the bikinis, they say "set", which doesn't say in the tankini, but still, customers are not supposed to guess it should have said set.
They weren't clear at all and definitely misleading.
A bikini or tankini means the full set already for most people.

PeapodBurgundy · 05/12/2018 17:32

Can't can't find the minge thread, but here is her story I found quoted in another thread:

"this has been on here before but it is my most shamefilled moment and i burn red thinking about it...
32 weeks pregnant with dc3 we went swimming, i had put my tankini on at home so i could see if i had a bad bikini line hanging out the bottom of my bottoms.
we went to the baths,dp got dd2 changed and gave me the armbands and rubber ring to 'sort' and so i just took my out door clothes off and 'met them on poolside' i was dutifully inflating the barbie rubber ring\armbands when dp started advancing down the side of the pool mouthing frantically 'wtf are you doing i can see your minge' i was puffing up the inflatables glaring at him as he gestured and mouthed 'your minge,i can see your minge' i looked on the little chair by the poolside and there, neatly folded, underneath the rubber ring were my tankini bottoms.
i don't know why i took them off,but i was stood inflating shit,by the pool while 'family swim' went on beside me."

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 05/12/2018 17:37

I am properly crying with laughter.
This is magnificent:
dp started advancing down the side of the pool mouthing frantically 'wtf are you doing i can see your minge'

8DaysAWeek · 05/12/2018 18:17

Omg 🤣 that's brilliant. But this will NOT be happening with me.

My postage has been refunded 🙌 just need to sent the top back now. Have been told that they will work on getting the description changed ASAP as everyone is in agreement that it is misleading. Can't complain about that.

I think shy of suddenly finding the bottoms in the mailing bag that's the best outcome Smile Will you be able to get another in time for when you need it?

ForalltheSaints · 06/12/2018 06:55

I would have expected bottoms having clicked on the link and looked.

Glad to see that ASOS are to change the description. More responsive than many companies.

Lweji · 06/12/2018 07:50

Did you send them the thread? Grin

8DaysAWeek · 06/12/2018 10:34

Peapod I've just phoned my closest Mothercare to check stock of swimwear there and going to pop in today as I need something for tonight! Decided it's worth the expense of paying a bit more if it means I can try before I buy, as the stress of which size to choose online is too much haha

Started aquanatal last week and learned quickly, and unsurprisingly, that my trusty M&S tummy control costume was not compatible with pregnancy.

OP posts:
8DaysAWeek · 06/12/2018 10:35

Maybe they read it lweji Wink They didn't put up much of a fight...

OP posts:
PeapodBurgundy · 06/12/2018 18:51

I came to the same realisation under the same circumstances, but the costume was getting tatty, so I just cut out the tummy control panel, haha. Not long since had number 2 and I don't think there's a costume on the planet with enough control to keep my tummy in check any more! haha. It's a good job my kids are cute! Grin
