Been engaged for 4 years now and finally about to start wedding planning, we wanted to buy a house first, I have no idea where to start, not sure about how much a wedding will cost to be honest, so wondering how much everyone spent ? I know it’ll differ for each person but just curious Grin

i Forgot cheese and cakes were both gifts so they would have cost another £500, taking my total up to 12k.

YahBasic · 04/12/2018 19:02

€18000 for a weekend & all accommodation & meals for 50 people.

HugoBearsMummy · 04/12/2018 19:06

Including the honeymoon, £30K approx 🙈 it was booked 2 years and 3 months in advance though so it didn't 'feel' like it was that much... pretty extortionate now we sit back and think of it though- although it was everything we wanted and beautiful. Honeymoon was in Dubai so obviously not the cheapest of destination either.

cropcirclesinthefields · 04/12/2018 19:06

Approx £3000 ceremony, hog roast, 60 guests. My dress was on sale, my hair was a gift from a friend. A brilliant day 😁

FestiveNut · 04/12/2018 19:07

Ooh, about 5k I think.

hippopootamus · 04/12/2018 19:11

What did you get for that Crispysausagerolls? (Just nosey!)

RollerJed · 04/12/2018 19:14

AUD $5000 10 years ago. Fully catered including alcohol for 40 people.

We got married on a Thursday (which I know is a MN sin Smile) but we had half the guests from overseas so day didn't matter to them and it made everything cheaper.

Huntawaymama · 04/12/2018 19:15

6k last year. I did all decorations and invites myself and used flowers from my mils beautiful garden

Buteo · 04/12/2018 19:16

$100 for a ring, $80 for the ceremony and certificate, $30 for the wedding breakfast, and some nice dentists paid for the evening drinks.

Plus about £300 for a big dinner out with friends (they missed a lot of bottles of wine off the bill though).

Almostfifty · 04/12/2018 19:19

About £500. We just went and did the deed, took the witnesses for lunch and that was us.

Perfect.

meow1989 · 04/12/2018 19:20

£7000 in 2015. We were lucky to find a family owned barn in its first year of hire so it was £1500 and got a lovely picturesque town hall for ceremony. Had hog roast with sides and trio of desserts, m&s buffet in evening.

meow1989 · 04/12/2018 19:20

Oh, we had 80 day guests and about 110 in evening

crispysausagerolls · 04/12/2018 19:20

80 guests very swanky hotel venue approx 50k for venue and food (very swanky central London and 5 course dinner including lobster, beef etc), 20k dress, shoes hair make up jewellery. 4K wedding cake and favours, 5k band, church and church music 3k, flowers 3k, honeymoon 5k) Then about 30-40k+ on alcohol (FIL is a HUGE wine buff and extremely generous). Probably over 120k really when you include a few nights in the hotel before and after the wedding and husband’s outfit etc. I think alcohol is one of the things that can make a huge difference if you step it up with the champagne, wine etc.

Redgreencoverplant · 04/12/2018 19:20

2013 and 2k not including honeymoon. Civil ceremony in a gorgeous city hall followed by an afternoon reception at a 4* hotel. We saved money by having 40 guests and no evening reception. We got married at Christmas so didn't need flowers etc as everywhere beautifully decorated already. We booked the wedding six weeks in advance so the venue knew that noone else would be booking at that notice so they threw so many bargains our way. We had private hire of a private club at a gorgeous hotel and they didn't charge any venue hire! They also gave us a significant discount on the hot buffet as long as we had the Christmas menu as they always over ordered so we would be reducing their waste. We had a free bar which was affordable as only an afternoon reception. Only thing we regret is not having a professional photographer but we were young and poor.

IsThatWise · 04/12/2018 19:21

£ 22k. It was great. We were one of the first weddings at the venue so had a reduced price!

jusdepamplemousse · 04/12/2018 19:22

Probably upwards of £30k.

Good party.

Alaimo · 04/12/2018 19:22

About £6.5k, and it was a fairly DIY wedding! We booked a bare village hall, and supplied our own canapes, booze, flowers, and decorations. I think if you can get a good deal, package weddings can potentially be cheaper. I.e. our caterers charged £35pp for the evening meal (luckily the food was worth it :)), but we also had to hire our own tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery, etc. which added another £10pp to the cost.

To give you an idea, we spent about £2600 on food & drink; £1200 on the venue, flowers and decorations; £800 on a band; £700 on rings; £600 on the humanist celebrant and associated paperwork; and £600 on clothes for me & husband - no wedding party so no need to pay for them. We had about 50 day guests, no evening-only guests.

AskMeHow · 04/12/2018 19:23

About 5k 6 years ago. We got married in November at a new venue so hire was super cheap. My dress was cheap, a friend made the cake, another friend did flowers, another did a few formal photos. The vast majority of the cost went on food, as we paid a very good restaurant to do the catering. Haven't included honeymoon as we didn't bother until the year after.

3WildOnes · 04/12/2018 19:25

Crispy, that’s £500 of alcohol per person?! Were your bottles of wine and champagne all around £500 each?

imonlyherefortheAIBU · 04/12/2018 19:26

around 40/50K on wedding
Then around 17K on honeymoon

Mooey89 · 04/12/2018 19:26

About 6k. It was absolutely perfect.

TheBigBangRocks · 04/12/2018 19:27

Less than £2k. We didn't want to waste money on a party as wanted a house so thought it better to spend money on that. It paid off well, we had a lovely day and have the stability of our own home.

RoboticMary · 04/12/2018 19:27

95k, including honeymoon, in 2006.

Notmyrealname85 · 04/12/2018 19:29
