I'm not.

I can't stand all but 4 people for the 38 hours I have to spend with them and would rather scrub my kitchen floor with a toothbrush. Please it's assigned seating (I thought it was a Christmas reward not a punishment!!!!)

Am gutted I am missing a free meal and bar though!

I'm not.
I do get on very well with my colleagues and would / do happily go out with them but I don't want to pay £70 plus drinks plus either driving or a lot on a taxi (it's not that local to me) for a night that doesn't really appeal to me.

Oopsusernamealreadytaken · 02/12/2018 22:40

Absolutely not. Working is more than enough time to spend with some people.

treaclesoda · 02/12/2018 22:40

I'm going to mine. I like most of my colleagues so it's no hardship. It's nice to spend a few hours with them once a year when we're not talking about work.

Have worked in other places where I would have no interest in socialising with them though.

heavenlypink · 02/12/2018 22:41

No not going

A) it's not free

B) barring about 5 people at the most I wouldn't choose to spend my free time with any of them

evilharpy · 02/12/2018 22:42

Yes and I can’t wait.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/12/2018 22:43

Were just going for a few drinks in town, meeting one pub and seeing where it goes from there. I’ll go for a couple of hours.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/12/2018 22:43

We’re, and meeting in one pub.

I can’t write this evening.

letsdolunch321 · 02/12/2018 22:44

I am arranging it for 110 staff, definitely gonna be there with drinks lined up.

mirren3 · 02/12/2018 22:45

Nope, I have no desire to spend any more time with people I wouldn't socialise at any other time of the year. We get a grand £10 towards a meal out, if you don't go you don't get anything!

schopenhauer · 02/12/2018 22:47

No I’m not. We have to pay but even if it was free I wouldn’t go. I don’t have time to socialize at work (teacher) and so I don’t really know anyone there beyond saying a quick hello. Looks quite sad now I’ve written it down but i couldn’t do the job if i took a lunch break/break and chatted to people.

SpiritedLondon · 02/12/2018 22:48

Hell yes! I’ve got one this Friday and then a couple the week after... none of it is paid for by the job but there’s probably 10 men for every woman so in the right outfit I won’t have to buy any drinks Grin

Livelovebehappy · 02/12/2018 22:50

Yep. Went to mine last night as I was peer pressured. Spent most of yesterday with a sinking feeling in my stomach wishing I had been strong enough to decline, but then ended up having a great time. I have a couple of colleagues who I’m very close to at work, but who I don’t socialise with ever outside work, and it turned out to be a very fun night. Taken me all day to recover from the hangover though!

Iwanttoswingfromachandier · 02/12/2018 22:56

God I find that grim - so you'd dress in an outfit so blokes would buy you drinks?? I would rather go to a work's do in overalls rather than dress in 'the right oufit' to beg drinks from a bloke - have some respect fgs

I don't want to but I feel I have to. I have to be up at half 5 the morning after though to get a train so at least I can use that as an excuse to leave after a couple of hours

MorrisZapp · 02/12/2018 23:02

Hell yes! It's the highlight of my year. Train to London, two nights in a hotel, fabulous lunch and as much afternoon /early evening drinking as I can handle.
I plan my outfit all year. The annual bash is a huge perk of my job!

GivingBloodFeelingGreat · 02/12/2018 23:20

I was invited to the Volunteer Christmas party but I didn't respond to the invitation. If nobody responds by 7th December then they assume you are not going.

I'm an introvert and don't really go to parties outside of work. I much prefer staying at home all warm and cosy in my pyjamas.

BackforGood · 02/12/2018 23:22

That is so depressing SpiritedLondon Do you not have any respect for yourself ?

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/12/2018 23:30

Going to the meal during work hours, there’s a three line whip.

Not going to the evening do. I have other plans Grin

recklessruby · 02/12/2018 23:56

No because when school ends I just want to get in my car and go home not watch a bunch of teachers I 've had to be with for 8 hours get pissed and silly.
It costs £15 and I won't eat anything on the menu.
Would rather get pissed in my local with dc and friends (it's also 5 minutes walk from home).

BSintolerant · 03/12/2018 00:06

Forced fun? Hell no! I'd rather cut my bollocks off.

Ragevibration · 05/12/2018 21:27

Oh now there's been a curveball... those who are attending can leave the office at 11am, those who aren't will be in until the normal 5pm.

Maybe I could suffer an hour of faked nicities and some turkey and cheesecake before graciously departing and still be home by 1pm

ChristmasAccountant · 05/12/2018 21:32

Nope.
Nearly 8 months pregnant, it’s a bar crawl in a busy city centre on a Saturday night. And I hate the lot of them.
Can’t think of anything worse!!

CeeCeeEnnEss · 05/12/2018 21:47

Went last weekend and had a blast!

Stephisaur · 05/12/2018 21:50

Nope, even though I organised it!

Properly gutted but it’s 2 days before my due date. I’ll be sat at home in a strop most likely 😂
