Allowing kids to sit on the conveyor belt at tills :o

I'm notv a great fan of kids in the main part of trolleys (especially when said kid is 5+ and clearly too big for the seat) but letting them sit in on the belt - WTAF?

Other people seem to think this is fine and great because the kid was enjoying it but to me it's not only unsanitary but dangerous.

AIBU? Since when did kids making memories/ having fun trump everything else?!!

@Bibijayne at least some good came out of it then, well done to him, that they acted so fast by installing them in a week.

And it's NOT fine to let small children rifle through magazines which other people are going to pay for! Not in the slightest! I don't want to pay full price for a dirty and dog-eared magazine thank you!

Dirty and dog eared ? Do you really think they have been stored in a sterile environment and then put on a shelf. They will have been transported in dirty vans, stored in dirty warehouses and touched by lots of people before they end up on a shelf. I don't think a child looking at them in the shop, is going to be too much of a problem. I think it's normal for young children to look at the magazines in a shop, I'm shocked you don't think it is.

Putting kids in trolleys is ridiculous. It's proven to be unsafe and no matter how many warnings parents are still neglectful and do it

Warnings can be on the trolley itself, entrance to the store, on the trolley bays, on a loop on tannoy system or verbally from store staff

But no, it still happens. And always will. Death or injury doesn't seem to be a big enough deterrent for this skanky attitude

All our local supermarkets have SN parent facing trolleys with a seat belt.

Children sitting in a trolley are safe. But parents who put kids in trolleys because they are difficult to manage are more likely to have a child who will stand up in the trolley. That is dangerous.

TheLittlestLightOnTheTree · 03/12/2018 12:35

Yes that's what I said

TheLittlestLightOnTheTree · 03/12/2018 12:38

Our store doesn't just have your standard trolley.... we have 2 other types, one being a flatbed. Very dangerous. Kids stand on them like they are a surfboard

No problem with the girl upthread sitting quietly on an iPad under her coat. Her mum has it under control

@TheLittlestLightOnTheTree what do you think skank means ❓
