Question for left handed people

Do you hold mugs in your left hand?

I’m considering getting a mug for my friend and it’s designed for other people to read (‘Shh I’m reading’ type of message) but it won’t work so well for her if she holds it in her left hand.

At work, left hand for my pen and my mug, right hand for my mouse.

At home, depends when I sit - whichever hand is next to the table/shelf that drink is on.

BiteyShark · 01/12/2018 19:42

I can drink using my right hand but it takes effort. If I try and drink whilst concentrating on something else I tend to miss my mouth whereas I wouldn't if I was using my left hand.

EggysMom · 01/12/2018 19:44

DH is left-handed. One of his habitual rants is about picture/fancy mugs that are designed for right-handed people!

teenagetantrums · 01/12/2018 19:48

I hold mine in my left. I wouldn't worry have mugs that say things and never thought about who could see the writing. I don't look when I'm drinking.

Princess28 · 01/12/2018 19:48

I drink with my right hand but I’m ambidextrous in that I only write left handed- most things I do right handed.
The cutlery thing isn’t very indicative as the only people I know who hold their cutlery the ‘wrong’ way are right handed!

Innocentconglomeration · 01/12/2018 19:49

Yes and OH has a very fancy Villeroy and Boch (I think) mug that I can't hold comfortably because it's made for right handed people.

Shoppingwithmother · 01/12/2018 19:50

I’m right handed but use my left hand to drink - the right hand is usually doing something more complicated, eg have drink in left hand now whilst typing this on phone.

justforareply · 01/12/2018 20:15

Left handed and never use right hand for any drinks

Athena51 · 01/12/2018 20:18

Yes. always so most message mugs don't work for me as you can't see the message. I've tried to hold my mug in my right hand but it's weird and I can't do it properly Smile

I use my mouse with my right hand though.

MrsExpo · 01/12/2018 20:29

Left handed here ... always mug with left hand.

RedWineIsFabulous · 01/12/2018 20:30

Yes always hold on my left hand!

RedWineIsFabulous · 01/12/2018 20:30

Sorry meant with!

And I am left handed as well!

steff13 · 01/12/2018 20:30

Yup, in my left hand.

Bishalisha · 01/12/2018 20:31

poglets · 01/12/2018 20:33

I hold it in my left hand.

Ilovedotcotton · 01/12/2018 20:35

Yes

weescottish · 01/12/2018 20:38

I'm left handed but hold a mug in my right hand, how odd Grin

Wooooooooaaaaaaaahhhhhhh · 01/12/2018 20:39

I’m right handed and I’m using my mug with my left hand. Which doesn’t work as I like to scroll through my phone with my left hand. Meh, I don’t know...

Mari50 · 01/12/2018 20:39

I’m left handed. I don’t give a fuck about mugs and motifs. I’m not very left handed though, I can use right handed scissors etc

MondayImInLove · 01/12/2018 20:42

Also a mug in left hand - mouse in right hand person here!

LuvSmallDogs · 01/12/2018 20:44

Usually in my left, sometimes in my right if I’m using my left to do something else.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 01/12/2018 20:46

Either/both. It'll be fine.

SweetSummerchild · 01/12/2018 20:55

I am left handed but do a lot of things wiht my right hand.

With my left hand I: write, play tennis (badly), hold a spoon, hold a fork, sew (used to, before my eyesight deteriorated), use a hairbrush, brush my teeth, do my makeup

With my right hand I: cut with scissors, chop with a knife, bowl a ball (badly), use a computer mouse

I tend to hold a cup with my right hand. I think that’s probably because a standard ‘place setting’ puts a drinking cup on the right hand side.

I’m pretty clumsy but that’s probably the crap eyesight.

straightjeans · 01/12/2018 21:18

No. I'm left handed but my right hand is the dominant one.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/12/2018 21:22

I use my right hand if it’s a mug , left hand if it’s a glass / coffee cup. God knows why.
