WIBU to not wrap the stocking fillers?

PoesyCherish · 30/11/2018 13:23

There's just so many little bits and bobs and it's such a faff wrapping them all and then they never fit in the stocking properly because of the extra paper. WIBU to not wrap them?

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 30/11/2018 13:24

I never wrap them, I’m didnt realise people did wrap them.

AndThereSaw · 30/11/2018 13:25

I don't wrap them.

MrsPerfect12 · 30/11/2018 13:26

Aww half the fun is the unwrapping! Your call but I wrap for my kids.

Stormwhale · 30/11/2018 13:26

Oh I wrap them. It's much more fun for dd that way.

Reaa · 30/11/2018 13:27

Have to wrap, keeps them quiet for longer Grin I also add in a carton of juice and a couple of cereal bars.

CharminglyGawky · 30/11/2018 13:28

I wrap them, it's half the fun for me!

But then I'm odd and actually enjoy wrapping!

CointreauVersial · 30/11/2018 13:28

A good hack for you - buy a pack of coloured tissue paper, tear off pieces, and "scrunch" them roughly around each present. You only need a single bit of sellotape, and no scissors.

You will have it wrapped in seconds!

JoinTheDots · 30/11/2018 13:30

I was complaining about having to wrap and my friend also suggested tissue paper wrapping - I think its a great idea

SleepingStandingUp · 30/11/2018 13:30

Yeah was gonna suggest tissue paper as you lost the bulk.
Wrap a few up together?

babysharkah · 30/11/2018 13:32

Totally unreasonable. Keeps them in bed for at least half an hour unwrapping them all so I can snooze through it!

Bluelady · 30/11/2018 13:32

I've never heard of wrapping stocking presents.

CointreauVersial · 30/11/2018 13:33

But if you don't wrap them, it's no fun, and all over in seconds, surely?

BrieAndChilli · 30/11/2018 13:35

i do a mix - so i wont wrap chocolate or things that come in some sort of wrapping such as blind bags or plastic eggs etc. I then wrap up most of th other stuff - top trumps, earrings, rubix cubes etc.
I always get special paper for each child that is only used for stocking presents and father xmas presents downstairs. i dont label the father xmas presents so each child knows that their presents are the wrapped in the same paper as their stocking bits.

Nicknacky · 30/11/2018 13:36

My kids open the stocking first and spend a few minutes on it then get on with the present unwrapping. I’m quite happy that it’s over in a few minutes.

Bluerussian · 30/11/2018 13:36

I always wrap them use odds and ends of wrapping paper, keep the posh stuff for the bigger presents. Unwrapping is fun.

Medianoche · 30/11/2018 13:39

If you buy a pack of craft tissue paper sheets in The Works (£1 for 80 sheets I think), the sheets are just a bit bigger than A4. Most stocking fillers can be wrapped with one sheet and you don’t need to do any cutting, so it’s pretty quick.
I selfishly wrap them because then I get a chance to forget what Father Christmas has bought for me, so it’s still a pleasant surprise on the day.

Storm4star · 30/11/2018 13:50

I've also never wrapped stocking presents. Main ones yes, but my kids had these big long sock stockings I bought them years ago (which they still use now in their 20's, lol) and they loved sticking their hands in and seeing what they pulled out. They would have seen wrapping paper as an unnecessary barrier! I have many happy memories of them dragging these long heavy socks onto my bed and seeing how excited they were as they pulled each thing out.

Loonoon · 30/11/2018 14:08

We never wrapped and stockings took up a good couple of hours. Not because we did lots of stocking gifts but because every item was inspected and showed around before the next one was pulled out. It seems wasteful to wrap little things like colouring pencils, balls, dvds etc. You’d end up spending more on gift wrap than presents! And it would be mind blowingly dull as well.

giveovermypreciousss · 30/11/2018 14:08

I dont wrap them.

Mari50 · 30/11/2018 14:10

Wow, I can’t believe the consensus seems to be not to wrap. How else do you make stocking fillers seems exciting if you don’t wrap it? Unless people are buying more exciting stocking fillers than me I guess......

Nicknacky · 30/11/2018 14:12

They get excited by pulling out things they can’t see. Mine aren’t particularly exciting or expensive. I can’t be fucked waiting for them to unwrap a chocolate Santa 😂

Steamedbadger · 30/11/2018 14:12

I tried not wrapping a couple of years ago and DC were quite affronted.i do use tissue paper

Cath2907 · 30/11/2018 14:13

I wrap most but there is always an unwrapped pack of chococlate coins in the toe and a chocolate santa sticking out of the top. I may skip one or 2 other sticking out things if they are a nightmare to wrap. To be fair my stocking filler wrapping is pretty rudimentary.

Enidblyton1 · 30/11/2018 14:16

I always wrap, but it doesn’t have to take long or cost much - as others have said, just buy some tissue paper and wrap up presents roughly. It doesn’t take more than 10 minutes. I don’t bother wrapping choc coins, apple, orange etc
I agree it is a little wasteful to have more paper to throw away, but thin tissue paper can be scrunched up really small afterwards. It does make the stocking a bit more fun and longer lasting.

Witchofwisteria · 30/11/2018 14:18

Well if you don't wrap them don't you just end up tipping them upside down and seeing all the shit at once! Half the fun is unwrapping. Is it really that much effort, surely in the time you posted this and read the comments you could of wrapped up the stocking fillers.
