WIBU to not wrap the stocking fillers?

There's just so many little bits and bobs and it's such a faff wrapping them all and then they never fit in the stocking properly because of the extra paper. WIBU to not wrap them?

I might be really controversial here, but our stockings are left beside the fireplace!

bridgetreilly · 30/11/2018 23:54

I think it spoils the fun a LOT if they aren't wrapped.

Nicknacky · 30/11/2018 23:55

It really doesn’t spoil the fun. It’s just quicker

Agree completely

My kids are pretty happy Christmas morning with their unwrapped stocking!

SunnyintheSun · 01/12/2018 00:02

Omg, just remembered we used to get sandwiches in our stockings as kids, along with the apple and orange. Apparently it gave my parents an extra 1/2 hour sleep (we were allowed to open stockings from Santa in our own room when we woke up, family presents came later in the day).Grin

circleoflife · 01/12/2018 00:08

I've never heard of Santa not wrapping stocking presents?! Apart from chocolate coins, satsuma etc
My mum Santa used to excel in finding the cheapest, tackiest old-fashioned wrapping paper from the local bargain shop for stocking presents!

foxyloxy78 · 01/12/2018 00:08

I wrap mine

Katedotness1963 · 01/12/2018 00:12

No, never wrapped the stocking fillers and Santa didn’t wrap what he brought either.

belleandsnowwhite · 01/12/2018 00:20

I wrap about half of them.

YourMilkshakeIsBetterThanMine · 01/12/2018 00:26

We do a mixture. So the choc coins, satsuma, toothbrush, hair accessories and socks won't be wrapped but we'll wrap the more fun stuff like playmobil and small toys. The blind bags come wrapped anyway really so I won't bother with those either. And I don't wrap soft toys in case they can't breathe Blush. Mainly unwrapped then. Yy to colour-coded Santa paper.

MoaningSickness · 01/12/2018 00:37

My parents always wrapped, thinking about it out stockings were pretty see-through, so without wrapping it would have been deadly dull!

I loved waking in the night and the stocking being full, and feeling the wrapped presents and getting all excited - would have definitely just looked at them all if they were unwrapped. We always waited til all the children were awake to go into my parents room and sit on the bed and open together - though I do remember having a loud conversation by a sleeping siblings bed to encourage them to wake up!

HotInWinter · 01/12/2018 04:05

Right, stupid question alert, How do you tip out a stocking? If you turned ours upside down, nothing would come out. I can understand if you go for pillowcases that stuff could be tipped out, but from a sock?

MarcieBluebell · 01/12/2018 04:28

You HAVE to wrap!

GummyGoddess · 01/12/2018 09:23

Always wrapped. My mum wrapped everything and it was nice feeling the heavy stocking crinkle as I stretched out. Chocolate coins not wrapped but scattered through the stocking and not in their mesh bag.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 01/12/2018 09:54

Father Christmas doesn't have time to wrap stocking fillers for millions of children. The stocking is the wrapper.

JustAskingForAFriend · 01/12/2018 09:59

I always wrap them. However in 9m old stocking I've old wrapped the funny shaped items. Weird but the method in my madness is its easier for her to grab and potentially tear paper than a solid book type gift. I've wrapped maybe 5 items. Rest isn't wrapped

I always had all mine wrapped except 1 Year and I felt a bit sad.. I remember saying oh santa didn't wrap our stuff.. Turns out mum thought dad had. Dad thought mum had..

NeffSaid · 01/12/2018 10:29

I don’t wrap. My parents didn’t and the magic was in feeling in the stocking and trying to figure out what each item was before pulling it out. DD (4) does the same now. Stocking opening always took/takes ages in our home!

The point is - wrap or not, kids will find it magical. And this is true of so much of Christmas!! Elf or not, Santa visit or not... as long as kids have lovely traditions they will find the magic.

OhFlipMama · 01/12/2018 10:37

Ooh no we're wrappers here! Like the tissue paper option.

Candymay · 01/12/2018 10:53

Brilliant ideas here! I’m going to get tissue paper for easy wrapping and include juice boxes.

I have always wrapped but use different paper that the children have never seen so it’s all work and a faff. I have a lot of children too! When I was a child the gifts weren’t wrapped and I actually found that more exciting and yet I always wrapped for my own because I noticed that others do. I think either way is jolly exciting for the children!

Now today I need to buy tissue paper and not let the children see me!

foxtiger · 03/12/2018 14:04

I've never wrapped stocking fillers and neither did my parents or in-laws. I thought it was traditional not to.

yolofish · 03/12/2018 14:20

DDs are 22 and 19, and I've ALWAYS wrapped in a diff paper than anything else. Going to do the tissue paper thing this year, that is GENIUS! (and yes of course they still need a stocking...)

E20mom · 03/12/2018 15:00

Always wrap stocking stuff in tissue paper because that's what my mom did
